I agree with you, i sometimes feel the same way, i get excited when people send me friend requests! I love to support, and when i first signed up for OH i just jumped right on in the conversations.  And even though it has been years in between me being an active member and me actually having the surgery done.  I also have people on my list, i don't even remember talking to let alone know who they are!   think people who are on ones "FRIENDS" list should at least check up on that individual......who knows they may or not be going through things, so whats a hey how are things going every now and then?

Well, I mostly lurk  and I only have a handful of friends on my OH list but I love to share my experiences because I am considered a vet (4 years) and my page is not private because I want people to see journey from start to finish.

Now I've seen your profile page and some of your pics and let me tell ya, I think you want the world to see more than just your journey...  Word to the motha!   Whew...  You ain't pick the name Lil Booty for just kicks and giggles.  Have Mercy!!!

 I love what I see when I look into the mirror now, 140lbs ago I was hiding behind every bush, tree, car, or person that I could because I wasn't happy with me.........and the name Lil' Booty is because compared to that BIG butt I use to have it's now just a Lil' Booty

I personally have stopped making friend requests here unless I have made an actual connection with someone.  It seems that some folks really guard their profiles and don't take friend requests lightly. To each his or her own... In most cases, the request is only made so that you can view the person's profile...some folks aren't interested in getting or receiving any other support.  I think they should have two status requests....a Preview Request (view the profile) and a Friend Request (for more serious connections) ,
