wanna hear something funny & f*cked up at the same time? i'm out of the office on short term disability and i got laid off today.

so Maryland.....anybody hiring? i've been supervising employees in various industries for the past 10 years.  while i'd love to get out of the management game, i'd do it to pay the bills.

oh yeah, extra points to anybody who knows where the quote in my subject line came from.

Smokey..  That would be Friday, one of the classics.

Now can they do that.  I didn't think they could lay someone on disability off.  I'm so sorry.

Can they do that.  I think you should consult a lawyer.  I  know someone who got laid off with a workers comp case pending.  Someone suggested that she see a lawyer for that.  Once she got to the lawyers office and explained that she wanted help with her Workers Comp Case the Lawyer said ... they should have never laid you off with a Case pending.  That's like laying you off while on disability.  Workers Comp / Disability ... its all the same.  That's kinda like discrimination.  "WHAT ????"  My friend said to the lawyer ... I don't think they were discriminating against me ....  The Lawyer politely said ... your job is hoping you  think that also.  So, when the smoke all cleared the lawyer is taking on her Workers Comp Case and filed suite against her job.  Get a consultation from a Lawyer and just see.  Lawyers say lots of people get screwed over by there jobs and the job hopes they never get a lawyer involved.  Hans ... the Job gets away with Murder.  Consultation should cost you a thing.

Did I mention ... GET A LAWYER !!!!!!!

You can look at this situation as a new start with just having your surgery...I read my insurance information for STD in detail and my company CANNOT let you go unless it is a massive thing with people in common. For example if they are letting go 25% of people who do the same thing in the same dept it is ok...Otherwise there is a problem...Good luck.

Sorry to hear that man.  I agree with the lawyer consultation.  I'd at least talk to one.  Might be a loop hole.
