911..Hair Emergency!

Hi All,

I know hair thinning and some lost is to be expected with the surgery.  I am a little over 6mo out and I have been experiencing extreme thinning since probably month 2.  I go to the shop once a week for a shampoo and style.  I have, faithfully for the last 8yrs.  Yes, I consider it an investment in myself.  My stylist is great and has always taken care of my hair.  She suggested early on that I begin taking Biotin. I do, religiously.  It is apart of my vitamin regiment.  But even with all of that, my thinning seems to be worsening.  I have over the last 3mo. worn roller sets or twist sets, as I am working out and these styles can with stand the workouts and get me through the week without having to put any heat in my hair or even comb it!

I am at a complete lost, as my stylist shared her concerns that the shedding and thinning seems to be worsening instead of improving.  Any advice?  I am not a hair "queen"....I will let it grow out, but will cut it on a whim as well, it's just hair, it grows back.  It is about shoulder length now, but so limp and thin.   have always worn my natural hair (relaxed of course - not brave enough to go all natural, though I secretly want to dred my hair) and never tried weaves.  I have a few ponytail things for extreme emergencies and I have done micro-braids over the years.  Presently, my hair is too thin and jsut not healthy and we don't think it would be a good idea to braid it right now.  Any advice or remedies.  I have a pretty good grade of hair...not "good hair", but a decent grade.

Other than this hair thing, and not being able to get these last 15lbs off, this journey has been a great and positive experience!  Hope it has been the same for you guys!

Thanks!

I started to thin out about a month ago...really bad. Biotin isn't going to make your hair stop shedding. It's only good for when it grows back.

Check your protein. I started the bullets several months ago thinking that was going to be a great way to keep my hair. Little did I know the main ingredient is collagenic protein....it's barely absorbed by our bodies. So I've switched back to my old protein and the loss has stopped.

I did manage to cut my hair of....long and thin was not a good look on WonkaD.

Good luck!

DOO Grow I swear by that stuff! I was told my daughter had alipecia(sp) and would need shock treatments and the nines she was BALD as a bird in some spots. girl my daughters hair is down in back and after a week I began to see a difference. I started using it on my sides and they came in wonderfully. I got her the shampoo $6 and the conditioner $8 and the hair grease $4.99. Try it you want be disappointed. and beef up on the biotin

Thanks.  I will give the products a try.  I am afraid to take more biotin because it cancels out something if you have to much intake.  I guess it is just trial an error.  I feel bad even complaining, considering!  I was just a little unlucky in this area.  I don't hear of a lot of AA having as much issues with this problem as other ethnicities.
