When you're thin why do people...
I can't tell you how many times I've heard all of those comments, including:
"you don't need to lose any more weight"
"You're (getting) too thin"
"Just how thin do you want to get???"
And when I started to gain the weight back (I've gained 25 lbs., but already lost 6), they say,
"you still look good"
"you look better now with some weight on you"
"I can't tell you gained any weight"
All of these statements lull us into a false sense of security and only undermine our efforts to lose this weight and keep it off for good. These statements feed the ego and make us second-guess our own goals.
Personally, I think people get jealous, not just because you look better/feel better, but because they know the discipline it takes, and they are not at a point in their lives where they have been able to demonstrate the same level of commitment that we have. And that makes them feel guilty and uncomfortable. The problem is theirs and they want to make it yours.
It's the old "misery loves company" mentality. Funny how quiet everyone gets when you're big!

See - that crap you get with the regain is just WRONG!!!! Folk are ENCOURAGING you to fail, in my opinion! They wanna tell you NICE stuff when you're gaining, and bad when you lose - that's mental booby trapping to me
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Yeah. And when you're losing or have lost the weight, they want all the details about how you did it, how hard it was, what you had to eat, etc., knowing good and dayum well they don't intend to follow anything you tell them. I can't begin to imagine what they say to WLS patients!
Haters, I tell you!

I agree with you all. I am really offended sometimes that now after I have had the surgery, folks still ask me how much do you weigh now and how much more do you plan to lose. And what kills me is especially with females - what size do you wear now? Okay i don't mind telling them that for real lol but let me tell you first or read my profile on OH. This one chic has a bad habit of asking me in front of everybody tryin to front. Im like girrrrl i dont even know - i just keep losing and losing it's hard to keep track - had her lookin real dumb. Then another question that offends me - is when im eating something or like a piece of cake or potato chips - girl should you be eating that?? Or won't that make you sick now? - Gosh darnit - LEAVE ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALONE and let me eat my shiot (i mean stuff) dang lol.
Well I am freshly cut so I don't get those questions. Here are the questions I hate..
So lose anything yet?
You look the same to me...
And don't let me complain about head hunger or cravings to my family. OMG then I get I see you are going to be the kind of person who loses the weight and gains it all back...
Now mind you my mother made that comment as I watch her load her plate up with Nacho's with cheese. It had to be a mile high.
side note: I do not say anything about being hungry or cravings ANYMORE. I guess I am not allowed to be human.
