My babies are here!!!

Just want to introduce the new loves of my life. Avery Grey Charlton born 5/09/2009 5lbs 4oz 17inches long Myles Nigel Charlton Born 5/09/2009 5lbs 8oz 18 inches long It was hard work but so well worth it because I'm sooo in love with my babies :)

showed up to the hospital with hubby and mom around 730am. They scanned the babies and found that they were still both head down so had my cerclage in the OR removed also had epidural placed at that time.  induction started at about 11:15 am after about 2 hours on pitosin it became clear that only one side of my body was receiving pain medication.  had that epidural replaced after about 4hrs that catheter stopped working but only in one area on the left side of my belly so spent the rest of my Friday night getting bolus to help with the pain control.  Next morning by 8:30 am after staying at 5cm since 2am that previous night i was told that c-section was the way to go.  I again needed a new epidural cath put in again for surgery.  They tried a spinal couldn't h find the space.  so they said the would place an epidural was nervous about that because of how the other two turned out was told don't worry about it we use stronger meds in the OR. well tried to place epidural # 3 three times finally got it in could get a good level past my belly button. I was feeling everything next thing i know the Dr said he was going to put a stronger med in and tilt the table head down to make the level rise.  well it did rise but past the level that it should started going up my chest and my throat could breath or maintain my own airway it know became an emergency i ended up being put to sleep and having a  vertical incision because they needed to get the babies out fast.  so i don't remember much just a lot of yelling and waking up in recovery extremely confused.  The kids did fine went to NICU for couple of hours because the were sleepy and their blood sugars were low.  but their in well nursery now.  having some issues with the pain and needed a blood transfusion because i lost so much blood during the case almost pasted out when they tried to get me up and out the bed to walk. The swelling is out of control.  Not one mentioned that swelling after delivery can be worst  I look like the good-year blimp lol.   After going through all of that I do have to good size healthy babies that will go home with me and that all that matters.

Marsha, thank God you made it through all that.  I am so sorry you had to go through all that pain, BUT look at those beautiful babies....  I swear Avery looks like Nigel...LOL..  I am so thankful that they get to come home with you.  Get some rest because you are definitely going to need it....

Also, a mother of twins, my experience was very similiar to yours with the spinal block.  I had to have two because the first one didn't take.  I also had swelling after and high BP after which they told me was common.  My babies are now 10yrs.
