OT: Natural hair color
Do you wear your natural hair color or do you dye your hair?
I have naturally coal black hair - and have hated it all my life. I have dyed my hair varying shades of brown with blonde highlights forever.
Why? Somehow I have it in my head that with my skin color, my natural hair color isn't 'fly' enough - that since I am light, my hair should be too.
I think I am going to experiment this summer and stick to my natural color and see what happens.........

Funny you should mention this. I use to always rinse my hair with a color called "spiced cognac". It had a red tint; I have naturally light brown hair but it always looked thirsty to me; just dry. One day my Mom told me that people pay $ for my natural color and I should try it. I listened to her around two years ago and now I love it. I seriously always have folks ask me............what color is that in your hair..........I just say............DNA baby..........it's my DNA!
MM;
I have dyed from hair since I was 16. I'm naturally a red head but I dont like it!
I vary from a honey blonde to a light almost white blonde. Depending on my mood. Try a rinse see how you like the color then hair your stylist put the actual dye in.
Forget what people like or dont like about you. I do me-whatever makes me happy!
See - just when I was about to break out of my complex..... BAM - there you go!
I wore my natural color about 2 years back - folk kept asking me if I was French or some other nationality because my coloring was so different.
Back to light brown I go!!!! LMAO

I dye my hair black only because of gray hair, it runs on my hispanic side and it hit me hard but it does not bother me... If it were not for the gray hair I would probably go natural with my own color... You have to do what is best for your look... If it looks better on you when your hair is dyed then go for the gold.

I use the Clairol Beutiful Colllection, it's Semi-permanent. LOVE this stuff, plus it gives me a change to be a little more risky w/out the long-term committment.
I get it at Sally's & it's only a few bucks. VERY easy!

My natural hair color is a dusty brown... at least that's what my old hairstylist used to call it. People do pay money for that color. Over the years my color has been everything from jet black to blonde. Right now I'm working a combination of natural color and all my gray is dark golden blonde. I've been itching to dye it black again but I don't want to bother with the questions about my ethnicity again.
I've been coloring my hair since Jr. High. My mom let me dye it auburn while she was on a big haircolor changing kick. Every couple of years, I'd go back to natural (mid-brown to dk brown with light brown to blond temple areas) up until the darned grays showed up at my hairline!
Since then, I color those rascals, as they make me look older, and I'm not trying to have any of that!
I use the Clarol Beautiful Collection also! They have a new line of more intense color (still semi-perm) that saturates grays better; called Advanced Gray Solution. I did a touch up with it in Burgundy Brown; I love the overall color, but the grays still are not as deep as they should be at the temple, but better results than with their standard formula.
For my next touch up, I'm mixing in Rich Dk Brown in for just around the hairline grays and the big gray patch I have in order to deepen the color. I called the Clarol helpline about it & they said fine to mix colors, as long as they are in the same formula (don't mix Advanced with regular versions).

My natural color is a deep brown that lightens in the summer. My momma wouldn't allow me to color my hair so when I graduated from high school I put in some Sun-in and can we say brassy orangeish color hair. lol That stuff doesn't comes out, wear out or color over, you have to grow that mess out. From then on, I used a honey bronze for years and then tried to go back to my natural color and the brown turned my hair jet black !!!!! My hubby called me Morticia Adams.
Right now it's full of gray and needs to be colored and possibly highlighted to cover this bird's nest.
