GATEWAY TO 8K, WEEK 5, VERY HARD RUN, COUCH TO 5Ker's ??

Morning Yall
The beginning of week 5 almost kicked my azz.  I swear the last 10 minutes I thought I was going to have a heart attack and then I checked my nike plus and realized that I was running a 9.39 minute mile which is way way to fast for me.  I slowed my ass down real quick.   It is so funny how a 13 minute miles is slower than my walking speed when just a month ago 13 min mile run was super fast for me.

So I am on the month countdown before I start my vacation summer and those dam bathroom jeans are still tight.   OK,  Here goes my goal.

Grandma 96th Birthday is on the 29th of this month and I am going to wear those jeans no matter how dam tight they are.  LOL.  I can just imagine that torture.  But I am going to really concentrate on just my body cause Wed is the last day of school and I will have time to just focus on making those jeans look good.

I am going to up my carbs because of the ammonia issue I'm having now with the burning amino acids and hope that will help me lose some inches to inch my big ass in those jeans.  I swear yall I hate the side part of my ass on the right hand side of my body.  It just looks so freaking huge.  Becca thinks i'm crazy but it looks huge to me. 

I am going to be kicking it up for the last 29 days before I leave,  wish me luck.

I'm in today Lee,
Today is my official 1st. day for the couch to 5k.  I tried it on Friday but quit when I only had 3 runs left argh!  Earphones kept falling out of my ears; I was exerting more energy holding them in than I did running. 
My thighs are still a little sore from from Friday but it feels good, is that weird??

Congrats on your first day Hugga76.  You can do this just take it slow and do what you can but don't stop.  Once you tell your head it's ok to stop you will keep stopping.  I only stop unless there is something that has gone really bad.

I am so excited for you.  You can do this.  If I can do it you can cause i'm nothing special.

I did it Lee,

Gurl after about the 5th run I was like wtf?  When is this going to be over, but I finished and I even ran faster on the last run.

Question is there a particular speed that we should be running? I can't quite make it out if she's giving a speed.  I was running between a 5.0 and 5.3 and on the last run I did 6.0, I know I can't go much faster than that because my heart rate is in the 170's running at 5.0.

You should run at what pace feels best for you.  I started running at a moderate pace.  I don't really care about speed I care more about distance.   I find I have more pain if I run to fast or to slow.

Fort Bragg Army unit doing their annual division run this morning and how the guys were basically running a 9 minute mile. Sounds like you would be rolling with them soldiers!

Wear those jeans and feel proud! I had been reading about your bathroom jeans. I am not a jeans kinda girl so I gotta bathroom 'blouse' going on. Bought it 1 size too small. Hoping it will fit just right once I finish couch 25K.

I went to  a support group meeting yesterday and as soon as i walked in they told me my blouse was too big! I reminded them I bought it a month ago when we went shopping together and it was the first time I wore it! I am definitely noticing a difference in the way my clothes fit since starting couch 25K.

Completed week 4 day 1 this morning. I so plan to complete this! I saw that attend end of next week I will jogging 20 minutes straight! The last 5 minute jog this morning seemed soooooo long! 20 minutes - Talk about needing some music to keep me distracted from the time. Thank goodness for the iPod!

Keep up the great work Lee! be ready to post a picture of you in those jeans!

Hey Fionna

Let me tell you running at that pace is to hard on my heart right now,  I had a feeling I was going to fast because I kept feeling really really tired but I didn't want to slow down until I got dizy then I slowed down.    I don't have a speed goal because I don't care how fast or slow I run as long as I run but I guess it's just a natural progression to run faster as you get stronger.

Congrats on Week 4 that is beyond Awesome!!!!    I may post a pic of the jeans but girl they are tight, tight, tight.  LOL

Lee gonna get going on the 8k training this week.  Do we just run for 35 minutes straight.  I still cant find the link you sent me.  I wish my brain was at full capacity right about now...sorry!

Hey April

No it is interval so on week one you run for 7 minutes four times, with a 1 min walk in between each run.   I feel like it set me back in the beginning but as you build up you will appreciate those 1 min walks.  I am up to 46 minutes now.   I want to run straight through but i'm trusting the program for what it is, it says i'll be running a 8K straight through and i'm going to believe that. 

You will find the first 3 weeks easy having those breaks in there.
