D,

I love the movie because of the inner woven relationships of all the characters. The two mothers and two daughters. One mother is a protagonist while her daughter is the antagonist AND its the opposite for the other two.  The little twist of the forbidden love....makes it interesting as well. The acting was superb by all actors.  The icing on the cake of course was Mahalia Jackson singing Trouble of the World....gets me every time. Now while I was happy to see Sarah Jane be remorseful at the end....I still get an urge to just jump through the screen and put my size 10 up her arse!!! because its TOO dayum late.....aaaahhhh that's a good movie for you when in the heat of the moment...you forget!

1. Steel Magnolias
2. Shawshank Redemption
3. Forrest Gump
4. The Color Purple
5. The Notebook

Girl I could go on and on...

Those are the ones I can watch over and over.  No matter how long the Shawshank Redemption is, I still watch the whole thing..

As for as television, I am a die hard Law and Order fan (all of the Law and Orders but my favorite is Law & Order SVU.

2nd to that would be the Medium..  That has got to be the best writing on televsion..

Ok, that's it for me....

As a macho, manly man, I hate to admit having seen all these films (lol).

Valley of the Dolls, eh?  Which version?

To Sir With Love.  Nice film.  Another example of Mr. Poitier's character gaining all sorts of respect despite being the only black man in the cast.

Raisin in the Sun..ur right about the P.D version.  I saw it on Broadway.  Everyone BUT him was excellent.  YUCH.  He acts like he raps. lol.

@ Valley of the Dolls, eh?  Which version?

I think you thinking of "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls", which was the Russ "Bazoongas" Meyers film.  That's the movie where just about every woman in it was sporting at least a 46 FF size bra.

The movie "Valley of the Dolls" movie was lame to me.

Go figure!
