Alcohol and weight gain
Hello,
I'm new to this forum...so hello everyone.
I have a question...I've been married a year now and have gained 36lbs back. Well outside of happily being married I stated back drinking after being sober for 8 months. Well my husband feels that the alcohol has also contributed to my weight gain, just like our happy marriage...but I only drink on weekends. I like drinking and honestly don't want to stop. I don't drink dark liquor, I drink gin and cranberry juice. Now my girls explained to me that the reason I've gained the weight is partially cause I'm happily married but also cause alcohol make you lazy and not want to workout...so if I start back on my exercise regiment I will be ok.
I need some feed back please. Thanks.
YES - alcohol leads to weight gain - and also transfer addiction.
I've been known for saying your exact words- only mine is vodka:

Stop it!!!! We absorb alcohol faster, we have less food in our stomachs to absorb it so it goes right to our blood stream and it stays in our blood stream longer, we "feel" sober quicker so we drink more then we get really drunk, WE (yes you and me) are setting ourselves up for ulcers, kidney failure, liver damage and a very short life.
It's wasted calories (of yeah I use sugar free cranberry as well)
I still do not eat much but due to my alcohol consumption I have gained 35 pounds from my lowest weight and I'm almost 5 years out. Not GOOD!!!

Now - TRUE that you can balance it with exercise but your post SOUNDS (and I could be wrong) like you have more of a problem with alcohol than just the empty calories - just cause it's on the weekend doesn't mean it isn't still an issue.
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
