It depends on what your habits are and what needs you have for a tool for your weight loss.  Neither method is better than the other, it's just better than another for YOU.

What are your current habits?  Are you a binge eater?  hooked on carbs? a volume eater?  Based on your research of both, which do YOU feel better fit your eating profile?

I will sit here all day and say RNY is better than DS - but that's for ME not for anyone else.  I can only help you research you and the tools to help you decide.

Are you getting a VGB or a VSG?  They are two different surgeries.  I don't think the VBG is being performed much because of the high failure rate.  I have the VSG and love it.  My weight is coming off slower than the RNY but I'm okay with that.  I didn't want malaborption.

You really need to analyze what style of eater you are...  I was a volume eater... didn't have much interest in sweets or sodas.  Restriction only works for me.

It's the sleeve. I noticed on my profile it had VGB. I have not a clue what that is. I am a volume eater too. I dont like sweet snacks and soda I have been workig on not drinking them for the past 6 months. Thanks for your insight.

Howdy,
I was sleeved in February and am currently down 52lbs, I lost the first 40 in 2 months. Now I am losing between 0-1 or 2 lbs a week. The inches are coming off like crazy though which is so weird.

I love being sleeved but my only downfall is that I have a cast iron sleeve, I can eat any doggoned thang and that is not good because I am greedy. The good news is that I cannot eat that much so I don't think that it is having an adverse effect on me.

I personally think VSG is a great WLS procedure one that I wish my insurance would cover but they didn't so I'm going the RNY route.   It's such a personal decision... and I agree with MM - both are good procedures just depends on your situation.
