OT - Educate a confirmed sinner... Please.

The reason I ask others to pray for me is because of the scripture that says where there are two or three touching and agreeing... I feel that if multiple people are praying that they are touching and agreeing on my behalf. There have been many things that have gone on in my life that I know that it was nothing but prayers and God that got me through. When you have doctors and surgeons come to you and tell you that it was nothing but God that kept you alive how can you do anything but believe in the power of prayer?

I absolutely believe in the Power of Prayer and Intercession...but folks have to KNOW exactly what they are touching and agreeing on. I don't believe that Prayer is speculation...that's why I believe that so many of us were saved from death and doom when our parents and grandparents prayed or pray for us. They knew the whole situation and did it from the depth of the Spirit. But like one Preacher said, "Sometimes YOU gotta lay hands on Yourself!" or get with someone who you can tell the FULL situation to so they can touch and agree with YOU. I don't know if I am a Good person, but I am a decent person and I try to do what is right. But I can't say that I can pray to GOD to "Help Jane or Heal Franks big toe."

But in the end, to each their own, in their own sight.

My response to this is definitely not to get into a debate, but to express my beliefs. I truly believe that my brother or sister can pray for me and not know a thing that is going on. If someone was having trouble in their life they don't need to tell me everything all they need to know is that I can get a prayer through. In the church all my life I've seen people that have unspoken prayer requests that they ask the church to pray for and it is possible to pray that if it be the Lords will that He make a way or change things around. To me that is where faith comes in. When I pray for someone I have faith to believe that God will do what needs to be done. God knows the situation when I don't.

I'm not getting into a debate by responding to you just as you responded to someone else. What I will say is that many of us believe things that are not true or erroneous or just backwards. My thing is to see what GOD says about Prayer/Supplication/Intercession under whatever Religion that houses your Faith. Hey, what if your scripture stated that if you Pray in the bathroom-on the toilet, that this is offensive to GOD...would you do it? What if GOD is offended if you are not clean when you come to Prayer, ablution is required...wouldn't you want to know. I would want to know what  GOD via the Prophets said about My ability to Interceed for someone else and offer Petition for Myself and others, I would want to know how I am to do it to get the Best results. I'm real particular about NOT trying to **** off GOD.

If you do not follow a particular religion, I guess you can "wing it."

somethings are just beyound your level of  fixability so why not ask of the one who can fix everything.........I mean I can do stuff like fill in when your baby-siitter is sick  or pick up  your kids up from school cause you are stuck at work , feed you if you hungry, loan you a couple of bucks for gas till pay day.....but I cant fix things like  a broken heart and I cant heal the sick....but I can go to the Father on your behalf and dont mind doing so.

I had to LOL at "the luck thang..." but I believe technically, if one believes in "luck" then one can not believe in the Power of Prayer. Even if you define luck as where opportunity and preparation meet, that's NOT luck. Luck is a "co-incident, hap-in-stance as I understand it...and as I believe and all Believers believe, "NOTHING JUST HAPPENS", Everything has a rhym and reason under the sun.

Now, scripture says, "The Prayer of a good person availeth much" NOW the KEY CODE word here is GOOD Person/Man...WHO is this GOOD Person/Man, how is GOOD defined. Then another question would be whether Prayer and Intersession are the same things; whether We have the power to "Pray" for ourselves but only "Certain Persons" have a Right of Intercession on behalf of another? At any rate all scripture say that Prayer must be approached with sobriety and clarity, so if one does NOT know the speific needs of another are they just throwing "bricks" at GOD...is this disrespectful? As My Imam once said, "When we go in to seek something from your supervisor at work, we respect him enough to have thought it out, then present it to him in a respectful manner, so why would we not have even Greater Respect for GOD." The Bible also says that when we do not know what we need, then allow the Holy Spirit to search us/the individual and make Prayer or Intercession on our behalf.

I do not believe that Prayer is random and haphazzard and you drop a "line" to GOD like you put in your order for pick-up pizza...and that's how Prayer, Supplication, Intercession are treated today (My arthritis acting up so y'all pray for Me; My cousin got shot (who was robbing a store-but didn't mention that) so please pray for him... What are you gonna Pray for and WHO are you asking to make the Prayer (cause like someone said people just ask anybody to Pray for them and some folks I wouldn't let take care of a small pet. For the most part, I think you are right about when folks come into a forum like this and ask for Prayer...I believe they are seeking empathy, sympathy, giving us an update or just need to talk to someone about how they are feeling about whatever is going on. All that's OK too and they should just say that.
