PRIMUM NON NOCERE
First...Cookie is such a sweetie for putting out the prayer request for Lavendar and myself. I appreciate her, like so many others on BAF, so much!
Secondly...sometimes I find it amazing how a person can "walk" into a hospital, under their own power, for some elective surgery...(albeit major surgery)...and not be able to "walk" out. Matter of fact...not only not having the ability to "walk out", under their own power,...but need to be carried out...because their now dead.
I'm reminded of the phrase "primum non nocere"...better known as the medical oath of "FIRST, DO NO HARM"...
With man's hand, the cure is sometimes worse than the ill..........
........I'm just saying.

I have been jacked up personally by a doc, so I understand your feelings here - I am grateful to God that I made it out with my life..........
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Doug, advocating for patient safety is my passion and the primary focus of my career. I will tell you that as an engineer it is a daunting task trying to analyze every single process to predict where there is a potential for error or harm. Even after issues are identified, implementing change in the healthcare culture can be like pulling teeth. Politics, money, staffing levels/worker fatigue, miscommunications, human factors issues, learning curves, competing organizational priorities and many other factors affect improvement efforts. It's hard.
Most people in the medical field are caring, competent and want to do the right thing for the patient. Sometimes the system lets them down and in the process lets the patients down too. I am so sorry your family is going through this.
Keeping you in prayer, my brother.
