As a nurse I highly suggest you have a family member or close family friend at your bedside at all times.  If you have to request a private room so they can stay overnight DO IT!  If you gotta act a little crazy and they think having family there 24 hrs a day is the only thing that will stop you from flinging poo-DO IT!  Most health care workers are doing the very best we can and want good outcomes for our pts, but believe me unfortunately due to budget constraints we are not working with all the staff and equipment we need.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hey love, I am a firm believer that the best advocate is a family member or close close friend.

When I had my last surgery, Thurman was there for me, he spent every night that I was there (total of 7), he left in the morning only after shift change and he introduced himself to the staff.  I remember it was like the 2nd or 3rd day, he had left I was in pain, pushing the button so many times, until I just turned the light off  and cried myself to sleep.  When he came back,he question why I was laying in the dark and if I had my meds, I told him no. That man went off, he told them he had been gone for 3 hours tops and come back to find his girl crying and in pain.  Once he went off, I got so much attention that I was almost embarrassed but he let them know that he was there for me. And they made sure that they did right by me both when he was there and when he was gone.

I am praying for you sweetie.
