Imma put em on blast!!!
I myself have considered taking phentermine, but am so afraid to because I don't want the weight to come back plus some when I stop. As for the person who posted that did you notice that she hasn't had surgery yet? I myself wouldn't take advice from anyone who has yet to experience anything with their own journey after surgery.
Contrary to popular belief, XXX ## of pounds are not gone forever without some kind of work for most...so I say any mean necessary be that energy drinks, diet pills, or exercise.
I can remember when I was about the same time out as you are today, and I believe it was my dear angel put on the board about diet pills (if it wasn't her, forgive me Cookie). And I posted, some to the fact of why have WLS if you going to go back to taking diet pills and she said in her gentle voice....talk to me again when you get as far out as I am. I can say, today...I understand what she was talking about...I have not taken a diet pill since my surgery but my mindset is ANY MEANS NECESSARY to keep this weight off.

There are some doctors that use a combination approach of surgery and pills. I didn't get one of those doctors but there are days I wish I did. I asked at my last appt and they looked at me like I was crazy. Sometimes you need a bump to get you where you need to be.
Adipex used to be my drug of choice before surgery. Tenuate is good and so is Bontril.

I think I see what she is saying about being appalled at the comment. It kind seems like she is telling the girl to take what ever extreme necessary to avoid gaining the weight back. But she didn't offer any healthy or natural suggestions. I know we have all taken diet pills at some point in out lives but It just made it seem she should go to any extreme to not gain it back. Also looking at how obesity can affect you mentally, i just think there was a better way to say it. So I dont think it was the fact that she suggested taking diet pill, that was so appaling as it was how she said it. This is just my opion and mine alone.

I've been known to pop a dexatrim from time to time (they suck) but sometimes they do help curb the appetite. I'm not gaining but sometimes I know when I'm heading for a lousy food day and I take one so I'll keep driving past the McD's drive through in the morning....It is what it is...

Honestly, I am with the majority here. We have to do MANY things to stay on top of this. Speaking as a lap band recipient, we simply lose more slowly and have to work, at least initially a little harder for the weight to come off.
I am VERY consistent with having fills done (when needed) and being accountable for what I put in my mouth and staying active and working out and frankly, I have kicked the ass out of this BUT ever since my husband was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, I have been off track.
So, I have decided to do a extended fast. I will be on a liquid fast, taking in only isopure and protein smoothies as well as clear broths and juices. I'm doing this for many reasons BUT one of the major ones is to get back on track and re-start my weight loss. I am not opposed to diet pills, natural suppliments, restricted eating etc, etc...as long as it's done with medical supervision and using some common sense. So...my opinion...there are many roads to mecca!

I really don't have any significant comments...but I can say that I tried an energy drink and nearly passed the fluck out!....so I think its best to warn folks that they need to be very careful when trying all these things. I know its common sense that what might works for one might not work for another but when a person is desperate....well they will do things without thinking. SO I guess I would have at least liked it if she had provided some type of err on the side of caution warning!
