It did - which is why my response was what it was.  Hopefully she read and 'got' it - but she never responded.  BUT - she did respond to my thread on the Plastics Board

I was very disappointed!  I don't know how you can say "I don't like white people" in one breathe AND then say "I am not racist" in the next. This statement alone made me deduct credibility points regardless of the OP intentions or identity. I would hate to have BAF labeled as a board full of  racists. We know that there are going to be racists no matter which board we go but I am glad it was cleared up that Valueme is not the fully appointed spokeperson for BAF!  I usually try to remain neutral when possible but this was just wrong...and while it may be her opinion SHE needs to know that she can't take it upon herself to try to represent us all.  Last time I looked...there was no retainer deducted from my bank account for legal or any other representation on this board. I won't even take pro bono on this one! No thank you.   Thanks for posting and opening up the dialog.

ETA: My response is not meant to be an attack of Value Me...she has given a lot of good insight on some issues. It is an admonishment of her using the "WE" statements and to acknowledge the contradictions.

I totally agree.  Looks like somebody is a little confused in their thinking?

In my less than humble opinion, anyone *****spects our cultural uniqueness and the diversity within the population of Black America is welcome.  I'll put aside the harsh racist replies because they came about in response to the posters disrespect towards the things that make Black communities important to Black people.  I'm not agreeing with the remarks, I just understand what sparked them.

That bigot is typical of the brand of racism I've known all my life.  It always begins with the "not racist" remark and ends with resentment over us having our own.  These people view anything that is pro Black as anti them and want it destroyed.  They want to villanize us for having our own just as whites have their own communities for jews, italians, irish, pols, homosexuals, catholics, age groups and on and on and on.

She posed a question that could have been a genuine curiosity, but her response to the first reply showed her motivation was bigotry and not understanding.  She was initially met with clear, concise, accurate and polite explanations of our on line community.  This was her jumping off point to degrade our rights to be ourselves.

Even if the initial motivation was not genuine curiosity, the initial responses were enough to enlighten and give a bigot something to think about.  This poster proved herself to be motivated by her own racism and got what she deserved.  Her real question was not a question at all.  What she wanted to say was "You ******s should not have a board of your own.".

  OKAY!!!!!

Yall don't know that chick - I have interacted with her on other boards - and believe it or not, SOME folk in this world are GENIUINELY NAIVE!

To assume that's what she wanted to say - going too far.  Just like ValueMe went too far.  I don't put thoughts into people's heads or place actions on them - I wait until they do that for themselves.

Reason being - when I went to college, I met a white chick who had NEVER seen Black people in real life - NO LIE - she was really just that sheltered and thought all the stereotypes were true.  Man did we school her!  But ummm - next thing we know, girlie turned on and turnt OUT!  Got a B-Ball player boyfriend, cut her hair and started wearing 'hood gear' - WHOOO!  She got back right after a couple of semesters tho.......
