RNYers (Important tip)....
Protein deficiency has the same symptoms as low blood sugar - you may want to get blood work done, and look at doing at least 30g of supplementation a day. Once I corrected that, I haven't had another episode.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I wanted to say that I have had many of these episodes and I thought it was because I didn't eat a balance breakfast and maybe too much coffee. Glad to know protein deficiency has the same symptoms because I was beginning to wonder. I have noticed if I have a bagelful as opposed to eggs and toast I seem to be fine.
Thanks a bunch for the information.

Gurl, you should know that after almost 6 years in this post-RNY camp...my bloodwork is the only thing I do faithfully LOL
Never did protein shakes!!!!! (except when really ill).....never had a protein deficiency....only B1 and Vitamin D.....
In fact, when explained all this to doc....he confirmed that my blood sugar was dropping....
My problem is not sudden hunger or missing a meal per se.....i think it has to do with going to long without a meal....3 or 4 a day versus 6-8.

My dumping episode symptons are more like this:
5-15 minutes from whateva put in mouf----my stomach gets painfully sick...I mean the I gotta throw up sick....

I have NO urge to put nothing in my mouf....food is my worst enemy.....as I crawl to the bed with garbage.....barfing and sleep are my only cures
I have had dumping last from 10 minutes to HOURS
When my blood sugar level drops.....I recover quickly
