I know some people recommend Mederma butit didn't do much for me.  A couple of my scars were slightly raised to I went into the Dermatologist and had steroid injections into the scars and they've lightened and flattened out.

Good luck!

I can only speak about cocoa butter.  I started using a pure stick a month out and for almost four months my scars got lighter and lighter and were not noticeable.

Then I got lazy and stopped applying it two to three times daily.  Now the remaining scar tissue is very dark and visible.  The areas that were gone did not come back.  So it is back to the cocoa butter until they are all gone.

Hey MM....I'm pre-op, but I have had 2 c-sections....I used the Pure Cocoa Butter stick twice a day and they have completely lightened up, and are not visible to the naked eye.  Hope this helps.

My son had open heart surgery a year ago and I used the Mederma. It did lighten them but they are very noticable (could be because he was only one) I was planning on using mederma, (my surgery is next week) but maybe I will have to try the Cocoa butter first.
