HAS ANYONE TRIED NUTRI SYSTEM? NOTHING WORKS THIS IS MY LAST RESORT

I also have edema and I found potassium to help.  It was Rx'd by the surgeon for 4 mo post op and for the first time I was clear.  Mo 5 when I stopped taking it, bam, kankles are back and legs steady growing into logs.

I'm asking for a script tomorrow.  Meanwhile, I'm using otc potassium (handfuls for 60%-120% rda) and diuretics (Rx and otc) to keep it under conrtol.

As for nutrisystems?  Never tried them but I'm not into those types of foods and they are way outside my budget I'm sure.

I've been using my own rny modified version of the diets I've found on body building sites.  In a nutshell, I've upped my protein to 100-120g and do not restrict good fats.  Carbs remain low under 50g net carb particularly sugar, fiber is ok.  I've upped my calories too.  Generally 1100-1300 but not less than 1000 or more than 1500.  I use my unadjusted base rmr as a guide so my calories decline as I loose.  I also have high and low calorie and carb days (cycling).

I have totally ditched my surgeons plan.  This month I ate more and lost 10.8 lbs so far with no change in exercise habits.  My body water % has been constant so its not jus****er weight.  This is the second time I tried this post op with the same results each time.  This time I will not go back to the surgeon's plan.

Now I'm all up in your bidness and I hope I didn't miss this post too. lol
Have you had your body fat tested.  I know we generally judge but what we see in the mirror but in light of your medical condition maybe having your body fat and water tested and seeing the numbers would help.

The way you work out and the muscle that you've put on, your body fat is probably low.

Yeah I have been water weighed.    I am so screwed up in the head girl.  LOL.    I have such body dismorphic issues and I know it.

I was never like this until WLS.

Trust me I understand, I've lost 100 lbs and people complement me on it all the time but I just don't see it when I look in the mirror.  I see all the imperfections.  The crazy thing is I'm smaller now than I was when I lost weight a few years back and back then I thought I was the ish but now I'm scared that I'll never be satisfied.

I think any  structured diet program works if you follow it.  I lose weight when I just eat boil eggs and stick cheese for a few days, in fact I lost 5 pounds in 3 days doing so , I just can seem to stick to it. I hear on the water rentention, I will gain water weight very quickly and it take months to get it off!  I was doing ok with Lean Cuisines, from the groceries, but they tend to have high sodium, so I make sure I get the ones that taste good with less that 600mg of sodium and less than 200 calories, Jenny Craig, Weigh****chers is good too, I hear the food is better, I have heard some bad reviews with NutriSystem though, I have heard the food is not good and folks will not stick to it...good luck what ever works for you.

I have heard that the Nutisystem food tastes like the cardboard box they come in. I never tried it due to the cost and sodium content. One diet that worked for me was the South Beach Diet and it was recommended for people with fibromyalgia. As long as I was on it, I lost 60 lbs but of course I went off of it and gained all of my weight back and then some, thus wls.

I do think that James had some sound advice but not for newbies and I agree that balancing carbs and protein are the key. I hope that your dr. is helping you with your edema. I wish you luck on you journey Lee.

I have tried Nutri System for about a month.  It doesn't taste very good and there are a lot of carbs in it (granted I tried it about 5 yrs ago).  I lost maybe 8 lbs in like two weeks but I really think it wasn't the food it was the eating every 3 hrs, portion control, balance meals and exercise.  It will work for you but you are just paying for the convience of having the food prepared for you.  You will still have to buy lots of fruits, vegetables etc. cause the program doesn't provide everything for you.  It is expensive, more so than if you just practiced portion control and balance your meals, that is all it is.  Its processed too so don't really know how healthy that really is.  Fresh foods would probably be better for your overall health.  Just my opinion.
