EXERCISE CHALLENGE Check In
I start out at 5.0, the increase to 5.5, then 6.0 and last 5 min or so 6.5. So I end up running anywhere between 3 5. miles to 5 miles. depending on how I feel. I have been not paying attention tot he distance, really. I count calories. With a goal of burning 3,500 calories a week.
I try to do this 2-3 times a week.
I have read so much positives on High intensity interval training, that I also do that 3 times a week on the days I do not weight train. I run fast for 1 min and then walk for 2 min. I do this for 20-30 min. Research data shows it burns more fat after your work out although may not burn as many calories as your 45 min run, the exception is that the interval running speed's up your fat burning though through out the day.
I like interval running because you don't get too bored, the trick for me is the music. With a fast beat.

thanx.........yeah I've been reading about HIT training myself lately....there was a very good piece in muscle and fitness last month.......they did the stair climber instead of the treadmill however.....same results though............i do quit a few 5k and trail runs, so measuring time/distance is important to me......prepping for a big one Nov22 in Malibu (11 mile trail run).....should be fun.......my 5miles in one hour burns 970cals.......which is pretty good for me, most days I'm only taking in 1800 cals or so.........cool, thanx for the info...
Today will be weights and 45 min on the elliptical
