What ya doin' for Mother's Day?

My mother is deceased (almost 8 years now) and my sister's kids are grown and live out of state. She always feels sad on Mother's Day because her kids are away, so this year I am taking her to see an exhibit we have wanted to see for awhile. If she's nice to me, I might even buy her a sandwich at the museum cafe! Anyway, it will be a nice outing, and we are going early in hopes of missing the crowds at the exhibit. We figured everyone would be at brunch in the morning, so we have tickets for 10 AM. Kix

my parents aren't returning from florida till next month sometime, which is just as well cause i'm flying to north carolina sunday morning (a work gig). i wouldn't have been able to visit my mom if she had been here. what are your plans, ginger? deb

Hi Deb, Well, let's see, I will be doing a very simple dinner at my house for Mother's Day. My parents had 5 kids and 4 of us live fairly close by. I am gonna do baked potatoes in my electric roaster. They taste so good in a roaster and also in a crock-pot. I just learned that you could do that a few months ago. The potatoes have a really different taste and texture. I will have sour cream, cheese, chives, little chunks of ham, and a big crock-pot full of chili. My friend suggested that I have Nacho cheese in a crock pot and have some chips and salsa so people can make nachos if they want. Now I'm hungry. Sounds like a pretty inexpensive meal, don't you think? Especially if everyone brings a topping or two right?? I hate Mother's Day..and I'm a mom!! It seems like a marketing ploy to get ya to spend more $$$. Just don't get me started on how I feel about Valentine's Day! Arrgh! Have fun on your business trip!! hugsGinger

Well my birthday was last Saturday so I'm thinking Mother's Day will be low key, it usually is. My husband said come on now choose which day you want to celebrate...too many gifts I guess..lol. I wish I could be with my mom on Mother's Day but she lives in Georgia and I live in Hawaii so we'll just have to hold off until next Mother's Day. My children remember though and all I want from them is a "fight free" day!! I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL MOTHERS DAY!!! Hugs, Jamie

Well I will start the day with a 10 mile walk then I am going to treet my self to a dinner out for my birthday/mothers day. I was born on mothers day 45 years ago. Hi Ginger, Our family has never been one to do BIG holiday things. Usually it's just a meal and a bit of time together. Both of my daughters and my son-in-law will be here and we'll most likely go out to eat. My Mom is being wined/dined by my brother in another town, so I probably won't be with her until evening IF she gets home in time. Hope everyone has a great day! Myra
