Protein finds???
I've adapted this from a chicken recipe from America's Home Kitchen light recipe cookbook. It is actually for a chicken parmesan recipe, so I'll give the chicken recipe first and then how I modify it for fish.
1 ½ c. panko (Japanese bread crumbs--in most grocery stores now)
1 Tbls. olive oil
1 oz. parmesan cheese, grated (about ½ cup)
½ c. flour
1 ½ tsp. garlic powder
salt & pepper
3 large egg whites
1 Tbls. water
cooking spray (Pam)
3 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Preheat oven to 475.
In a 12" skillet heat oil and add panko. Stir and let come to a light brown. Set aside and when cool, add the parmesan cheese.
Combine in a separate plate the flour, garlic powder, and salt & pepper.
In a third dish, combine egg whites and water.
Place a cooling rack on a foil-lined baking sheet and coat with cooking spray. Cut the chicken breast into serving sizes. Dip the chicken breast into the flour mixture, shake off excess, then into the egg whites, and then into the browned bread crumbs. Place on the cooling rack. Lightly spray the tops with the cooking spray.
For chicken parmesan, bake for 10 min. then top with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Continue baking 5 more minutes until cheese is bubbly.
For fish, I don't use the egg wash but substitute skim milk. I also vary the spices--sometimes using a Cajun blend instead of the garlic powder. I bake them at 425 instead of 475. And I don't top it with tomato sauce. Any leftovers I just freeze solid before wrapping, then wrap. I reheat them for about 20 min. in a 350 degree oven.
Enjoy,
Sally
Try Soy Protein, and try this recipe:
1/2 cup light Soy milk
1 level scoop chocolate Soy protein
1 tablespoon peanut butter
4 ice cubes
Blend well in blender
*If you are not lactose intolerant you can use regular milk and whey protein also.
it tastes like a reeses peanut butter cup and does not taste like protein at all!
Good luck!

I've heard rumors of a protein powder made by the people who make Benefiber, and it shakes into anything and just dissolves.
Other than that, my whole family drinks lactose free milk, don't be scared, it tastes like good milk!
Also, I recently found the Albacore Tuna steaks that are in the foil packets next to the canned tuna are LOADED with protein!! one 4oz steak has 36 grams of protein!! and they come in yummy flavors. all you do it heat it for 15 seconds or so in the microwave and it's good to go! Good luck! Don't forget to contact your surgeons nutritionist! they're chock full of good ideas
