For those of ya that drin****d tea to help get your daily fluid intake in, what kind of tea do you use? Do you recommend equal, splenda or something else? I love iced tea and I drink it with sugar right now. I know after surgery that wont be the case. So I'm trying now to break hard habits...pray for me, please

I love the iced tea!!! I drink it with splenda, I have used splenda ever since it came out so there was no chage for me post-op. I prefer splenda over the other sweetners because there is no nasty after taste. you might start with the non sugar stuff now so it is not as much of a shocker post-op. I prefer it now and use it for everything. kisses ~ Jeremy

I also love ice tea, but before surgery had problems with heatburn from drinking too much! I drink a Dutch tea called Pickwick, so much better then good ole Lipton! Of course my hudband is from Holland and I stock up whenever we go to visit, or someone comes here (sorry that doesn't help you). It's got a milder flavor to it, and I love it. I make mine tea now pretty weak in the ice tea maker and I use splenda and have had no problems. Janet

Hey Bobbie, I too loved tea.. Being from the south there is nothing like our sweet tea down here. We take it serious lol... But since I have had surgery I no longer drink it. I tryed the decaf and call it what you May. Yes, probably 70% of it is in my head but the other 30% keeps me from liking it. So I stick to sugar free koolaids, lemonades and crystal light. But like they are saying to you. You need to get started on that spenda, or other kind of sugar substitute now. It will make it alot easier on ya for sure when the surgery comes. I use even walmarts name brand of equal and is very good to me. Hugs Marge

Hi Bobbie...like Marge I'm from Georgia and I was a TOTAL sweet tea freak! I drank nearly a gallon by myself in a day (pre-op). I tried making it with Splenda and it just didn't do it for me. I tried Equal and again no go. I finally just gave it up and now if I want tea I have hot tea. I LOVE it!! I use Splenda and cream in my hot tea and it's satisfies my tea craving. I like my tea strong though so I use a fresh bag for each cup. I drink water, milk (with my protein shakes), kool-aid with a little Equal (can't take that too sweet), and my hot tea to get in my liquids. Last night I took a sip of my husbands sweet tea to help ease something down and it didn't even taste the same. I was so surprised at my reaction. I guess my sweet tea days are truely over... BUT dropping sizes and pounds helps balance it out. Jamie

I love Diet snapple raspberry tea and Diet Arizona ginger green tea. They're delicious with no aftertaste. I agree with the advice that you start using Splends or Equal now so you will already be used to it. Excellent idea. I will be praying for you! Hugs, Tracy

Since I'm not able to use artificial sweetners at all, I drink liptons unsweetened tea. I have come from drinking a 6 pack of regular coke a day, to drinking carbonated water (like LaCroix or Perrier) to drinking non-carbonated water or tea in preparation for getting banded. I know no sweetner is a big step for most everyone, but honestly I don't miss it anymore and find when I get something that has been sweetened...its TOO sweet!

I don't drink black teas because they can irrate the stomach, so I drink the Numi brand herbal teas. (They call the teasans.) They have a couple of the rubioos (sp) teas that would make a good ice tea. Sally
