Slow Weight Loss????
I keep reading all the posts about losing 20 lbs in 2 weeks and 60 lbs in a month and I get depressed. I am 6 weeks and one day out and have lost only 32 lbs. My head knows this is good, but my heart considers me a failure. Eating has turned into a chore that I would rather not have to complete. It seems that all I do is eat or drink, and there is no joy in food anymore. I know this is common, and I did expect this, but it ha**** me harder than I thought it would, especially combined with what I consider a slow weight loss. I know I am being silly, but how do I convince myself that everything is OK?

Boy do I know how you feel. I just posted this same topic on the April board. I am 6 months out next week and I still have some episodes of "grieving" for food. This has got to be normal because I used this coping mechanism since I was 8 or 9 years old and I'm getting ready to turn 45!!!!!
As for the slow loss, before you know it the pounds will add up. Just keep on plugging and you will do fine. You have lost on an average greater than 5 pounds per week!!! No, you're not being sill - sometimes we just need an extra push of confidence and support.
Congratulations and keep up the great work!!!

Michelle,
Everyone is so different with weight loss that you just can't compare yourself to everyone else. Your only hurting yourself if you do.
Do you measure yourself? Are you loosing inches? 32lb at 6 weeks out is wonderful! When could you have every done that before?
What types of excercise are you doing?
Don't get down on yourself, just stick to your eating and exercise plan and remember your doing a great job!

Almost forgot to mention - I know how you feel about eating being a pain, I feel like it's such a chore and I've gone from being a food addict, to wanted nothing to do with food. Who would have ever though?
Michelle,
I have to tell you that I miss the days that eating was a chore. It won't stay like that. If you are like most people, you will get the compulsion back to eat at about 9 months out. Then it is just like before, you have to fight yourself.
Enjoy it while it lasts and try to be patient. Believe me, I know how hard it is. I'm 16 months out and have been feeling so disappointed that I have stopped losing. It is hard to celebrate the fact that I'm down 151 lbs...I just focus on the 35 I've still got to lose. We are goofy like that, huh?

I have to tell you that I wish you updated your profile more often!
I keep reading your great responses on the messageboard and clicking on your profile because I want to learn more about you. And, boom, no new information
Congratulations on the 151, but here's to lossing the other 35.
