A WOW and an OW!

After avoiding it for many months, and realizing that my Tyrannosaurus Rex arms are too short to hold things I need to see far enough away for me to see them, I dragged myself over to the eye doctor for a checkup. The WOW is that I was able to walk around the clinic without dying, and that I was able to fit comfortably in the exam chair. That wouldn't have been possible at 530 lbs. The OW is that I have graduated to bifocals It has always been my belief that if you are born with sucky eyesight (I've worn glasses since I was 2), then your eyes should improve as you get older, but darn it, it just isn't happening! I didn't pick out my new glasses yet, since she dilated my eyes and I could barely see enough to find my way out of the building. I figured if I picked new glasses when I coulnd't see, I'd end up with something really scary looking. Kix

Dear Kix, I made it until 5th grade before being legally blind (but correctable). And this year I had to go to "dualing contacts"! One is set for distance and the other is set for close. And I still have to wear cheap reading glasses for some close work. I'm too chicken to try any of the lasik surgery stuff. But isn't it nice to be able to sit in a chair without worrying! I go to the dentist tomorrow and for once am not worried about the arms not being able to come down. Sally
