I have a question do you notice a weight gain when you don't go to the gym for two days? This happen to me over the weekend but come Monday the weight was gone. So because of that I have decieded that everyday i need to move my body maybe not as much as I do Monday thru Friday but atleast 30 min. So this Saturday will be the first time but I will be working out 7 days per week. I think that will help with my weightloss too. Just wondering what you thought about that? Lorraine

Lorraine, I have started the New year, making sure I exercise everyday. Day 12 and I haven't missed yet. I used to take Saturday and sometimes Sunday off. This week I loss 3lbs, when I have been averaging 2lbs a week. So I think exercising everyday has helped. It also makes me feel good mentally. Keep it up.. and I will try to also Lynn

Dear Lorraine, I haven't noticed the weight gain you mention, but I only weigh once a week. I tend to exercise in 30 min. units. So I figured I need to do nine "units" a week to average 45 min. over six days (I do give myself one day off). I think the exercise is a key reason why I am still losing steadily even at 14 months out. When I'm not feeling well and don't exercise, I don't seem to lose. Sally

Thanks Sally, I was thinking of taking days off but I just don't want to gain. I notice a weight gain because I weigh everyday that is my problem. Maybe I should stop jumping on that scale. Lorraine

I think you really need to rest your body at least one day per week to prevent injuries. Especially for us heavier exercisers, it is "really" important to rest our knees, ankles and feet from the jarring exercise otherwise we may develop joint pain. Think of it this way - even olympic athletes take a day off each week. Not exercising for two days will not make you "gain" weight. Gaining weight comes from consuming more calories than you burn over a period of time. It does not happen in one or two days. Your weight changes are probably normaly weight fluctuations, which we all experience day to day.

It could just be fluid.. on the days you dont exercise you dont sweat as much. Shellie

Lorraine, My trainer says I should take one day off a week. But, she tells me if I feel I really need to exercise, that I should just walk for 30 minutes that 7th day. Lori
