Hi Sally, I noticed that you and I had the same surgery month..Wow you are doing so great..this is where they tell us not to compare ourselves with others, right???  Hey, I don't blame you for not putting down your age here.  After I put my age down, I thought to myself...Now why did you go do that??? Good luck with plastics.  Are you having a consult or are you having the actual surgeries this week??  Skinny wishes to you!

Hugs,  Ginger

Dear Ginger, My surgery was on the 15th, just one week ahead of you.  November has always been a good "start again" type of month for me.   I will be having the surgery itself tomorrow.  I did two consults in January--didn't like the first doctor--and the insurance approval only took a week.  They, of course, didn't approve the arm lift but that was to be expected.  I'm really looking forward to having the wings cut off.  Maybe now my dog will stop barking at me when I exercise!  He doesn't like the slapping sound.   I was really surprised to remain such a large cup (still an I cup) after the weight loss.  I want to lose another 20 pounds but I figure that won't make that much difference if losing 210 didn't.  I saw from your previous post that you struggle with carbs--so do I.  I get monthly cravings for crunchy, salty, bad for me things!  I know that giving in to it stops my weight loss, but sometimes that isn't enough.  Fortunately, even on my worst days, I just can't eat that much.  But then the salt makes me retain even more water, so the scales are very scary!  I am working on developing a negative reaction to those trigger foods.  I intentionally remind myself of how awful I felt after eating them as I stand in the grocery isle being tempted by the siren packages.  Maybe other people do that naturally, but I have to work at it.  That does seem to help.  Well, at least so far with peanuts and chips.   Well, good luck to you and I'll post again when I get back to work after surgery. Sally

Hi,, My name is Mary Anne,, I'm 55 years old,  I'm married to Gerald for two years now, I've two sons and nine grand children. I live in Connecticut and I've been working at Yale University,, going on 29 years. I have NOT had my surgery yet, just waiting on the psych eval to be processed,, and then get my date.  I plan to  go with the RNY.  I started weigh****chers in Oct. 2006 at 315 pounds and I'm now down to 285 pounds.  The last ten pounds came off in one week,, because I had all my teeth out two weeks ago,, they take out your teeth, put  in the stitches,, wait about five minutes,, and then throw your dentures right in.  The first two days were pain full, and after that it was ok.  Now I'm learning to chew again, and how to talk also .  So I feel if I can live through this,, I'll have no problems with the surgery. I decided on this surgery because I've high blood pressure and I'm shooting about 25 to 30 needles of insulin every week.  And I'm now starting to get small sores on my legs. I don't want to lose a foot,, and then have my leg amputated, I'd rather take my chances with the WLS. One good thing about this,, my insurance pays for every thing.  We have instant approval,, and you have to be at  least 10 months post op,, and they pay for all plastic  surgery.,, including your face.    I've been "lurking around" for a while,, and will be more involved once I have my surgery.  But trust me,, I've been taking notes.  And I've quit eating breakfast a couple  months ago,, I just have a protein shake,, just trying to get myself ready.    Mary Anne
