Hello I too was glad to find this section. I started out at 407 at my seminar (my insurance apporved immediately I was lucky) and I was down 25 pounds on surgery to 382 and I have done awesome with my rny I was down to 329 pounds when I weighed last night at just 7 1/2 weeks out.

No one should be treated the way so amny of us our because of our weight but sadly the world is fullof inconciderate people. But you will find they are great here on the board, I also hang out in the oklahoma board and they are so supportive and friendly as well. OH is like any place with great people so so people and well the others, but we do all have this surgery in common as well as the struggle with our weight and our self esteem if they started small and dont understand being SMO or they are one of us and do understand so very well.

But I agree as a matter of fact I think one of my first posts on here was a gripe about why it was girls who only have 20-30 pounds to lose are the most interested in my experience with teh surgery, Of cours ethey then give me looks when i point out they are not fat enough to have this surgery done.

Having the time of my life!

Well, I started bmi 73.2 - I'm usually mostly on the DS boards, too - haven't seen you there as I have been so busy haven't been around anywhere, but I'm on holiday break right now still, so more time for browsing the boards. I hope your surgeon will do the sleeve small enough to start - my surgeon Dr. Baltasar (in Spain) has now been doing a 50cc sleeve, which is really helpful for enough restriction to get the weight off quickly.

I know the 2 stage isn't as nice as all in one-fell-swoop, but you do whatcha gotta do, and you should do well with the restriction for the weight loss at first, then the malabsorption to keep the weight off.

Any questions, just ask. :)

Hi Dondra,
Yes it does rock!  I too am an American married to a Brit... but mine moved to the US... I will say we were in York, England for the holidays and we both noticed an increase in size of the Brits compared to the past...   This was the first time I have not felt "noticeably" larger than most!  Even on the train from London to Yorkshire I was not the biggest in our car, that has never happened before!

I am having the RNY (I am at 427 currently) hopefully in the next month or so, just waiting on insurance approval.  Are you having your surgery via the National insurance or are you using private?  Just nosy!!

Where are you from the in the UK?

Yeah I am trying to have it on the NHS, no way to go private.

I live in Berkshire, near Reading.

I feel much larger than most and I hate it. I've never ever felt like a giant before now.
