Hello Everyone! Yes, I'm excited for the creation of this board as well. I'm only 9 weeks out and many of the May babies are already so close to goal. I had my surgery on May 23rd. I was required to lose 20 lbs just before surgery and I've lost 40.5 since. I still have 160 lbs to lose (a whole person). I'm thrilled with my progress so far, but, I know it is a long row to hoe! And a lifetime one! Lori 384/323.5/goal at this time is 160

Oh, thank God for this new board!!! I'm 10 months post op, and feeling a little down. So many of the people that had surgery the same month I did are at goal, and I feel SO very far away. I have another 100+ lbs to lose! I also feel like I'm a SLOW loser for starting as a heavy weight... and it's sometimes very frustrating. I know that I'll hopefully find more people on this board in the same boat. Love ya all and can't wait to 'meet' you! Katie RNY 9/21/04 380 (pre-op) / 265 (current) / 175 (goal)

Hi Everyone I'm happy this board is here. Well I am pre-op and 450 pounds. I am just starting out and plan on meeting my surgeon next month on the 11th. Vocational Rehab. is paying for my surgery and I thank God everyday for that. I am excited but really scared that I am not going to be able to loose weight successfully and that my weight makes me a higher risk. kay

Not a whole lot for me to say. I started out preop at 427 (BMI = 63). At the time surgery occurred I was 352 (BMI 52) Now 1 year out I am at 344 (BMI 49). One issue that I am dealing with that I wasn't thinking about happening is a back problems caused by the way my weight shifted. I am having moderate pain issues in my upper back do to chest changes and severe issues in my lower back due to the panni shift, hipsaggy skin and buttocks sking shift. I haven't been able to keep up with my exercise routine and this is a BLOW for me. I sooooooooo want to get weightloss movement by exercising again. This more than food issues is what I am having issues with. I know eventually that I will be able to do this but I want it NOW ! ! ! ! ! That's about it for me at this time. Carolyn

Great new board! I'm Dawn and my pre-op BMI was 69 & weight was 399. I'm currently 10 months post-op and my BMI is 45 & weight is 248. My surgeon never set a particular goal for me so I chose 200 as my target weight. To some, that is not "good enough" but I chose to have this surgery to save my life/make me healthier not to be a fashion model. When I get to 200, I will re-evaluate everything and set another goal. The way I look at it, a loss of 200 pounds wouldn't be too bad! LOL I'm currently on disability and was hoping to go back to work soon but I have recently found out that I have 2 compressed discs in my lower back which have been causing much pain. I have to see my doctor soon so we can chose a plan of action. I'm hoping some PT as well as continued weight loss will help the problem. Sincerely, Dawn Post-Op 9/23/04 399/248/200 Omar (husband) Post-op 4/7/03 525/220/200

This board is a welcomed site. Having almost 200 lbs to lose, it is nice to be able to share with others in a similar situation. I am waiting for insurance approval. I am being as patient as possible, but I just can't wait!!!!! Am sooooooooooo excited. Am ready to begin my new journey Lori
