1) It was a full moon recently: what did you do or how did you react?
I love a full moon reflected on the water, and I did see it reflected on Tampa Bay the other night... beautiful! ( I howled later at midnight)
2) Do you depend more on weighing yourself or measuring the inches?
Pre op, both. I had to know what I measured and weighed. I was upset at the figures first then accepted them and now I am delighted at the changes. I still weigh in, not as much and I need to measure again too. I use a quilt measuring tape I got at Wallymart.
3) Do you think car manufacturers should make cars with more seat room(so our bellies don't rub and we can be seat belted safely) and if they did, would you pay more?
Yes, they should! People are bigger and taller now and I would resent paying more but would.
4) Clothes: do you sew, make any adjustments to fit you properly, where do you buy them, and: what will you do with your clothing as you decrease in size?
I can sew a bit and pre op, used Mizrak.com a lot for clothes. Now I just have a GF take things in that I like a lot and want to keep. I have been passing my clothes down to others as I lose/lost and gave some away on the clothing exchange too.
5) What high protein foods do you like best?
Chicken teriyaki. Beef is yukky now and if I am on the run pintas n cheese from Taco Bell will do, with xtra cheese.
1) It was a full moon recently: what did you do or how did you react? I love full moons...they make me think of someone special...we usually write special imaginary messages to each other *sigh* I love a full moon!!
2) Do you depend more on weighing yourself or measuring the inches?
Well, I haven't had the surgery yet, but I would hope that I would go by measuring the inches.
3) Do you think car manufacturers should make cars with more seat room(so our bellies don't rub and we can be seat belted safely) and if they did, would you pay more?
Well~I don't drive, but I DO think that they should make the cars with more room....I personally don't think it's fair if they make an obese person pay more than a slim person, so NO I wouldn't be willing to pay more! We have to be treated like everyone else.
4) Clothes: do you sew, make any adjustments to fit you properly, where do you buy them, and: what will you do with your clothing as you decrease in size?
NO I don't sew!! But oh boy, I wish I did!!! I was thinking of seeing if, I could join a class, or something because Iw ould love to sew just so, I could create something beautiful for myself. And although, I am considering having the surgery, I would like to still create things for myself as, Is lim down. Save money..LOL
5) What high protein foods do you like best?
CHICKEN!! I love chicken!!!!
*smoochies*
~NEVER SURRENDER~
~T~
Alright I guess even though I am still new at this site, I'll join the band wagon.
1)It was a full moon recently: what did you do or how did you react?
Well, I have been stuck to this computer doing research, so I didn't even know it until my husband had told me.
2) Do you depend more on weighing yourself or measuring the inches?
I mostly depend on weighing in but after I am post-op, I plan to weigh and measure that way when the plateaus come (and they will) I will still know I am losing even if the scale isn't moving.
3) Do you think car manufacturers should make cars with more seat room(so our bellies don't rub and we can be seat belted safely) and if they did, would you pay more?
I think it should be a standard feature.
4) Clothes: do you sew, make any adjustments to fit you properly, where do you buy them, and: what will you do with your clothing as you decrease in size?
I do sew but not for sure how to do adjustments. I haven't bought clothes in a long time but after I am post-op, I think I am going to go buy an outfit or two (clearance section of course) every few weeks. I will be passing my clothes on to others.
5) What high protein foods do you like best?
A lot of chicken.
This was fun.

1) It was a full moon recently: what did you do or how did you react?
I honestly don't pay attention to that.
2) Do you depend more on weighing yourself or measuring the inches?
I didn't measure myself pre-op so I have no clue on the measuring thing... I wish I would have tho so I that I could have that to look at in addition to the scale. I weigh myself every day and keep a spreadsheet of the weights for each Friday.
3) Do you think car manufacturers should make cars with more seat room(so our bellies don't rub and we can be seat belted safely) and if they did, would you pay more?
They do make cars of all sizes (you just have to pay more for nicer bigger cars). I have never had a problem with riding in any car (and I maxed out at 499 pounds).
What I did have trouble with is seat belts... we used to have a Hyundai Sonata (lost it in a hurricane) and the seat belts didn't fit so my husband wrote to Hyundai about buying seat belt extenders. Hyundai wrote back and said that they don't have them because their seat belts meet the requirements that they fit 95 percent of the population so that don't HAVE to make extenders. I wanted to BUY them... wasn't asking for something for nothing. It made me very mad that the USA doesn't think that it is important to have all citizens be safe.
4) Clothes: do you sew, make any adjustments to fit you properly, where do you buy them, and: what will you do with your clothing as you decrease in size?
I know how to sew but don't sew clothing any more (used to when I was younger but I don't think I have sewn a piece of clothing since making my wedding dress 7 years ago.
I will give my clothes away.
5) What high protein foods do you like best?
I like chicken as long as it is moist.
THANKS TINA FOR THE QUESTIONS TODAY

Hey Tina! pretty good questions....
1) Jeez, didnt even notice it was full moon lol.
2) I have always been more of the weighing type.
3)Well, if you choose to buy small cars you know what you are getting for sure. Seat belts were always an issue for me. But now have roomy truck and seat belt is ok.But I feel like they should be standard options anyway because of the weight issues in this country now.
4)I totally DO NOT SEW! The only times I wished I did sew was when my girls were getting married and I had to find mother of the bride dresses. JEEZ! What some fugly dresses out there for big people. Its like you get big and they think you have no taste and not very age appropriate. Catherines is usually where I shop.
5) I love fish!
hugs margaret
Hi Tina!
1. Hm ... didn't consider this at all ... I'll be paying more attention next full moon to see!
2. Depend on weighing myself ... I resist getting out the tape measure very often. I think that's a defense-mechanism kicking in.
3. Yes!!! But (like that bank commercial on tv) I don't think we should have to pay more for it.
4. I used to be an avid sewer ... but haven't been in years. I'll admit the sewing machine is out right now, and I'm wondering how to alter some of my pants to keep wearing them. I have one shirt and pair of pants (my favorite and most-worn) from my 442 lbs days set aside. That's going to be my "OMG, I was that big??" set of clothing to look back on. The rest I'm still trying to wear ... (see B's post just prior to this one), but when it's impossible to keep on with them, I will take them to my WLS support group clothing exchange. That's been a really successful thing in that group.
5. Meat: white-meat turkey and chicken, white-meat pork, jerky, and tilapia ... in that order ... can't tolerate beef well otherwise. Dairy: 2% cheese!!! and non-fat cottage cheese. Vegetables: Beans (have done ok with most kinds), carrots (if cooked well), green beans. Unjury protein powders: chocolate in skim milk or unflavored with sugar-free,fat-free instant pudding mixed in, and maybe fruit mixed in.

Hi Tina
,
Thanks for the questions!
1) It was a full moon recently: what did you do or how did you react?
I noticed it when I was driving home, and I thought about how pretty it was, but that was about it.
2) Do you depend more on weighing yourself or measuring the inches?
Honestly, I am more concerned about getting the numbers on the scale to go down (I've still got it in my head that it is the most important thing), but I keep track of inches lost too. It is helpful knowing my measurements, like when buying an unknown brand of clothes online and also, I have a favorite pants suit that I want to fit into again, and my upper arms are quite big, so I figure out how many inches I have left to lose in my arms to be able to wear it again.
3) Do you think car manufacturers should make cars with more seat room(so our bellies don't rub and we can be seat belted safely) and if they did, would you pay more?
Yes, I think it should be standard, but no, I don't think we should have to pay more. There are some fairly new vehicles out there that don't even have Tilt; I could barely get my thighs under that steering wheel to drive it!
4) Clothes: do you sew, make any adjustments to fit you properly, where do you buy them, and: what will you do with your clothing as you decrease in size?
I never really knew how to sew (if I need pants hemmed or anything, I ask mom
), so I don't make any adjustments to clothes now in order to make them fit me better. Who knows what I might do if I did sew - lol. I usually bought clothes from the Just My Size website and that same brand and others at cheaper stores such as Wal-Mart.... I haven't bought much since surgery - maybe just a couple pairs of pants and a sweatshirt; I have been taking my smaller clothes out of storage and adding them to my wardrobe as they begin to fit. I have given some of my old clothes away to friends and thrift stores, and the rest are packed up waiting for my mom's garage sale next summer.
5) What high protein foods do you like best
I like South Beach Diet brand pizzas and wraps, chili, and the occasional lettuce salad with added tuna and fat free shredded cheese.
Thanks Tina!! Sorry I wrote novel here
!
Take Care,
Tanja
1~ Full Moon... It made me think of fishing.
I have heard that fish really bite when its a full moon.
2~ weighing myself or measuring... I'm pre-op so I am not measuring yet but I do love to weight myself right now.
3~cars...Yes more seat room would be great. No, I would not pay extra.
4~Clothes.. No, I dont sew. A lot of my pants are too big in the leg and too long but I need that bigger size because of my fat belly. So I get my mom to hem them for me so they wont drag the ground. I get most of my clothes from Fashion Bug. When I loose weight, I am not sure what I will do with my clothes.
5~protein.. Eggs, cheese and I really like protein drinks right now. I hope that dont change after WLS.
Everyone have a blessed day
KAY
