Does anyone calorie count?
Sally,
I enter all my exercise and food intake into fitday.com. I really like it because it keeps record of carbs, protein and calories. I am just over 7 months out. I find I average about 1400 a day with between 85-105 grams of protein. I worried it was too much, but, I talked it over with my surgeon and she thinks it is fine since I'm still losing weight and I vigorously exercise 1 hour a day 6 days a week. This is one reason I eat so much, all the exercise has brought my appetite back. I don't know what people need if they don't exercise to still lose.

HEY SALLY.
I DONT KNOW ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE AND CANT SPEAK FOR NOONE ELSE BUT I WILL BE DOING THE CALORIE COUNTING ALSO AFTER SURGERY. TANJA MY ANGEL HAS RELIGIOUSLY DONE THE COUNTING OF EVERYTHING THAT GOES IN HER MOUTH AND IS VERY SERIOUS ABOUT IT AND HAS DONE REMARKABLE. SHE IS LIKE SEVEN MONTHS OUT AND HAS LOST ALOT. SO IM LIKE THIS... IF IT WORKS FOR HER AND I AM LEARNING THE ROPES, I WANT TO LEARN FROM THE BEST. SO I WOULD COUNT PROTEIN, CALORIES AND ALL.

Sally, I also count calories using fitday. There is no "normal range" of calories. How many calories one needs to lose or maintain weight depends on one's age, gender, weight, physical activity, health and other more mysterious factors. A nutritionist can help you estimate the proper caloric intake.
I aim for no more than 1,500 calories daily, and I am extremely active, getting one hour to two hours of exercise most days.
Best of luck.

Thank you to everyone for the replies. I get a bit frustrated with all the different information from all the different surgeons and nutritionists. I found a nice food diary, Diet Minder, that I use. I can keep track of all sorts of nutrition information, exercise, and even my vitamins. I bought mine online. I like to have something to carry around with me rather than keep track on the computer.
Thanks again,
Sally
