Need help
Hi guys I know I can come here for some advice. Ok I know I shouldn't weigh daily but I do and now I'm getting so depressed cause my scale says I've gained 2#'s. Mind you since I've moved I have no insurance and haven't been to the Dr since my 1 month check up. I'm just trying to handle this on my own till the end of May when my insurance kicks in. Have I failed miserably at this or is anyone else out there addicted to their scale as well and has seen this happen to them and gotten over this hump???? I've been taking in more protein and water the last week and still no drop. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Take care,
Anita
Anita,
Please dont fret too much over the small gain. I know how hard it is not to get worried anytime you see the scale move the wrong way. Many things could be behind the slight increase. It could be just a little extra water, a change in exercise, a change in lifestyle, or just your body trying to hang on to whatever it can. Our bodies are pretty good at doing whatever they want!! I know if I weigh everyday I can expect to see a couple pound gain a few times during a month. But it always comes back off..
Please dont let a couple pounds discourage you! Make sure you get your protein, water, and vitamins in everyday.. You will see those couple pounds drop off along with many more in the future..
Your doing great.. Just keep with the program and things will work out.

Dear Anita,
I find that I always gain a bit at least one week out of the month--usually a clue to when my period will start! (It hasn't been as regular since my surgery.) Also, I read somewhere that "normal" people actually gain and lose up to 3 pounds a day!
Then there is the regular "your body is adjusting" reality.
Can I ask why you still weigh daily if you know you shouldn't and that it increases your depression? I know that for me, starting a new job--even if it was a good move--is very stressful, so why add stress to your life?
I have found that the whole WLS process really has forced me to evaluate my behaviors and attitudes about many things and not just food. You might want to be sure to participate in any local support group even if you can't get to the doctor until May.
Best wishes,
Sally
