SO CONSTIPATED!!!
I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I have been trying to defecate for a few days and nothing. The last couple times have been a week apart, and have been very difficult to get out. I would sit on the toilet for an hour (the first time) and half an hour (last Friday), and it felt like I was crappin' jagged rocks. *insert your laughing here* Tonight I felt the urge to go and went to the bathroom....and nothing. I was on the toilet for half an hour and pushed like I was labor, complete with screaming. Not pleasant. I'm frustrated. My nutritionist said to drink 100% apple juice before I try anything else. I want to try Traditional Medicinals Smooth Moves Tea. I might do that tomorrow.
Anyone have any other suggestions? It doesn't really hurt now, but I feel pressure.

hi jen. you're not offending me. it's a valid and ongoing concern (no pun intended). i've had major issues with constipation and i drink at least 100 oz of water daily, along with many other liquids as well.
when i had my hysterectomy i was told i have a rectocele, a weakening or tear in the muscle of the rectum which is causing part of the problem. they'll fix it eventually, when i have a panni done, is what the obgyn said.
in the meantime, she recommended colac, which i found at target but are probably available through any pharmacy department. i use the gelcaps, at least two a day. and i prefer them to the tablets because the tablets give me the cramping stomach issues i associate with an exlax or correctol product. and the gelcaps seem more gentle yet do the job well. also, they're reasonably priced, to me at least. since i had tried so many other things already, the colac is what i use now.
sorry this got so long. i can definitely relate, though. and i hope you find a solution for this issue soon.
good luck

Dear Jen,
You don't mention if you are currently taking anything. I started with a stool softener about a month out and that helps. I usually take one or two daily. When things aren't moving, I will drink the Smooth Move tea. Between the two, things move out without pain. I do try to get flax in daily, but that doesn't always happen. I'm still trying to figure out how to incorporate it in my meals. But when I do take it, it really works well also. This is the only problem I've had with the surgery, but it can be a painful one.
Best of luck,
Sally
