Great Job NY Mom!   I asked my team to play part of a game this week, but they aren't going for it. No surgery needed. Yay. I feel ok, im not in pain. I can walk on it and I can now move all of my toes. I think I am healing like a champ. I didn't do measurements this week. But I am down one and I am happy with that.

I was thinking of having a little bit of "interim" lipo done. above my waist and below my boobs. It just feels uncomfortable all of the time.

Topic: RE: Hi! New here... I'm looking into the Sleeve......

My BMI was over 70 when I first started the process.  I opted for the sleeve and couldn't be happier.

The DS is successful for long term weight loss, but has a lot of requirements and issues I did not want to deal with for the rest of my life.  Who told you that you should get the DS?  A surgeon?

You will get bored.

This is a very small period of time in your life.  What's important is to get your minimum daily requirement of protein and water.  Protein shakes suck.  We don't drink them because we love them.  We drink them because they are a great way to get in that protein your body desperately needs after surgery.  There are ways to doctor them up to make them more palatable.  Some people add sugar free Torani syrups.  I drank Premier Protein RTD shakes from Costco, and would add a tablespoon of sugar free pudding to vary the flavor (mixed in a blender).

http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/puree d-foods.html  Here's the link to Eggface's website with specific recommendations for pureed foods.  The baked ricotta is wonderful.

I avoided the types of carbs you list above during the pureed phase.  I never ate cream of wheat, oatmeal or mashed potatoes.  I wanted to maximize my weight loss and knew carbs would slow me down.

All you can do is white knuckle it for the first few weeks after surgery.  It gets much better once you start on normal foods.

Welcome; the ball is already rolling Petetrox!  By reading, you probably have noticed WLS is more than physically preparing, it is mentally preparing, as well.  I used all six months the insurance required to learn, focus, and practice.  Most importantly, I was able to lose 80# of pre-surgery weight.  Don't wait, start now:  attend support group meetings, practice eating small bites chewing to mush, choose protein foods to eat, drink around 64 ounces per day but not with meals, exercise your heart to make it strong for surgery, and immerse yourself into a healthy lifestyle. Go.

There is a blog called "The world according to eggface" she has recipes on there based on what stage you are on.

If you are having cream of wheat, I would try mixing in some protein powder. even in the soup if you have plain protein powder. At this point keeping up on your fluids is the most important, getting all the protein in will come.

Even now I still have a protein drink everyday.
