Topic: RE: Hi! New here... I'm looking into the Sleeve......

I had a bmi of 57 when I got the sleeve, & now I no longer qualify for surgery!, Hooray! I'm still in active weight loss mode & hope to reach goal by summer.

When I first started I also was advised to get the DS (not by my surgeon) due to my high bmi. But after looking at all the wls procedures & lifestyle requirements & looking at my past dieting history & current health I decided that the sleeve would be the best fit. No regrets.

In the end you have to choose what's best for you. Not your Dr, your friends, your family, YOU. After all you have to live with your choice, not them. The rny, ds, & vsg are all good choices. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Im sorry but what does DS mean? I was hoping to get the sleeve done and my doctor has not said anything against it and my BMI is 66.

Topic: Why is it so hard?

Why is it so hard to stick to a basic diet. my surgeon wants to see some type of weight loss before sending my info off to my insurance and I cant seem to stick to it?? I want it so bad but old habits are hard to quit. I weigh 435 and 5'8" and i'm active but not as much as Id hope to be. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Three weeks of Optifast down and I'm down another 3 pounds. I had my first serious "I really miss fooooood!" moment earlier this week, but it only lasted for an afternoon and I'm better again. I actually am still struggling eating all of the Optifast 'food' that I'm supposed to, the third shake of the day is always hard for me to do and I typically skip it. This coming week I'll have a second soup instead of a third shake, so maybe that will help.

Hey, less than 200 pounds to lose now. :)

My BMI is 53 and I want to get the Sleeve. I have been told that I should be getting the DS since my BMI is so high but I don't want to. I believe with therapy and with the help of the sleeve, I can overcome my weight problem.

Has the sleeve worked long term for any of you with BMI over 50?

Up a pound this week... Ack! It is funny I didn't think I ate that much at the Super Bowl Party but the next morning I was up 3-4lbs. What? Different foods...but it wasn't really 'gain' just my body holding on...So... I guess one pound up on official Wednesday for me is OK... FYI I made this Chocolate chip cookie dough dip for Super Bowl Sunday. Crazy made with chickpeas and tastes like cookie dough. (Chocolate Covered Katie blog)

I think I'm simple or something cause I can't take accurate measurements. Last month I recorded a waist measurement, and when I went to do it this month I recorded a measurement 2" more than last month. I'm never sure how tight the measuring tape should be held.
