Topic: RE: Does bigger mean more issues in WLS?

The weight itself is a big strain on our bodies. While our BMI isn't the only factor in how difficult the surgery is going to be .. we can't ignore that it isn't going to be a factor. That being said ... at the time of my surgery my BMI was 47.7 .. not exactly a featherweight .. but I think I sailed right through my surgery and recovery.

I think a bigger factor might be co-morbidities. Diabetes is going to slow healing, heart problems like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, breathing issues like sleep apnea ... I think those are bigger hurdles than just the extra weight. I had none of those.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.

Thanks! Yeah... my eyes bugged out when I saw the number! 10 on Opti, and 28 since surgery.

Congratulations IF & Sally!!

This is week 5 post op for me and things are going well. Sadly, I am still figuring out my bowels, but for now, I am on the laxatives and all is well.

HW: 308

LW: 273.5

TW: 270

Next goal: to get solidly into the 260's! I haven't been in the 250s and 260s since 2013, and I remember looking and feeling a lot better. I haven't been in the 240s since 2001, which took a LOT of work, and have never in my adult life been below that - so keep watching for updated goals. For now, 260s!!

Have a great week everyone!

Thanks ladies.. you are both very inspiring! I guess I look at the amount I have to lose and it seems daunting...but I need to remember I did not gain it in a short time either.
