i talk with my cat
I love talking to my cat, sometimes i think she understands me too, with her gestures. I think she is sad sometimes because she wanted to have kittens and she gets upset and confused when i talk about adopting a child becuse she knows she will move to a new home if it happens. Does anyone else talk to their cat like this??

There are many many families with cats and children. Cats do not understand that their claws have been removed and bite instead. If a cat bites, it would already be doing that. Most cats are unbelievably aware of children and know when they are being teased or their tail being pulled and will just walk away. There are so many myths about cats and babies that are also untrue. I wish you luck with your search for adoption (that is very kind of you) but I am a real believer that when you take on the responsibility of owning a pet that you stick by your decision. You can have the best of both worlds!
My husband and I both talk to our cats(2), and I swear they try to hold conversations with us! The oldest one is very vocal, and even tells us when it's time to go to bed. She'll be 10 years old in April, and we've nicknamed her "Big Ben". When it gets past midnight and we're still up watching tv or on the computer, she literallys comes in and hollers at us, then takes off to the bedroom. If we don't come to bed shortly thereafter, she comes in again with another reminder....lol. Aren't they wonderful?

I too hold entire conversations with my cats.
I probably look like some escapee from an insane asylum talking to my boys like they're babies.
My polydactyl, Duffy, also reminds us when it's time for bed. His brother, Gary, runs in screaming as soon as he hears the alarm in the morning.
We've got one sending us to bed and one making sure we get up!

Hi,
I have a farm so I'am always talking to my animals. My old horse yells at me when I don't feed her fast enough. I have 4 cats. They are outside cats because I'am allergic to them. They live in my garage, they are supossed to be barn cats (ya right). I talk they listen (sometimes) and they like to do chores with me. Sometimes they help me take care of the chickens. I have ducks and guineas that run my yard and the cats don't bother them, although the birds sometimes get the cats. My kids think I'am goofy for talking to them. I say they understand me. So yes I would'nt have it any other way.
Why would you have to get rid of your cat! NO WAY! My brother and his wife got a cat part simease cat in 1970. Then in 1972 they had their first and only child... my nephew Troy. Now that cat was the meanest most ornery cat on the face of this earth. But for some reason she took to Troy. She was his protector and friend. LOL, Troy was the only one who could do anything with that cat and the only one she would NEVER hurt.
When he was in college she was always on his books (I love you, pay attention to me, you don't need to read). Snowball lived to 20 and always loved that baby that came into her family. Just make sure you lavish lots of love on the cat so their is no need for it to be jelous of a child. Chances are that cat and child will be the very best of friends. Animals understand that children are little and helpless and will usually be gentle with them.
