Ok, need your advice. My cat uses the litter box for #1, but goes #2 on the rug...and the rug only!! I'm tired of throwing away rugs but the floor is ceramic tile so I need a rug so no one slips I can't figure it out. But the more frustarting part is she has terrible aim. She always backs up right to the edge of the box so when she's using the litter box it sprays over and down onto the floor, under the box. Changing the box is the biggest pain in the a*s because it's not just a matter of changing littler. I have to disinfect the floor and the bottom of the box and then mop the whole floor. EVERY TIME! I hate it...I've had her for nine years so I don't know what to do. She's been to the vet and there aren't any medical issues with her. It's just bad aim. I don't know what to do but it's driving me absolutely batty! Oh and I thought about one of those covered ones but the space is small and I'm not sure there would be room. AGH!! Any suggestions would be appreciated Meredith

I would definetely try a covered one, or if its too small for her, get the next size litter box. If its covered, she can't miss! It's worth a shot! Good luck. Rhonda

My cat used to do that too until I got him a 2nd litter box. Now he does #1 in one and #2 in the other. A strange personality quirk but they are strange critters to begin with. Good luck!

That's so funny--only a cat could come up with something so quirky!! You gotta laugh!

Meredith, How did you get my cat?? Is she sneaking over to your house?? I have the same exact problem, except she poops in the box, and pees on the floor, but backs up against the back of the box and the walls to pee on the floor. I have had her 11 years, and I raised her from a kitten. I bought another box, and by the way, I have 2 other cats, one is her brother, her litter mate and the other cat is my old man of 14 yrs. She is a pain in the neck, but here is what I found out. She is fine medically, no kidney infection, which ticks me off every time the vet wants to check that as its never been the case, we put her on anxiety medication and that was a pain. She would foam at the mouth trying to get it down her throat. It is a behavioural problem, and its marking the territory. She is intimidated by the other cats, even though she has lived with them forever. The vet is like no help, she says, sorry, can't help you. I went to one website that has helped me somewhat, I ordered some stuff from there, and its my last hope. Planeturine.com I hope it will work for both of us if you use it. I also got one of those things that is supposed to keep her from certain areas if you plug it in. Let me know how it goes, as my kittie is on her last leg. Take care, God Bless, Deb =".."= V
