Topic: RE: Need premium cat food recommendation!
Aha! Never mind... I'd been feeding them Nutro Natural Choice Complete, which is pellet-shaped, but the regular Nutro Max has angles.
But I'll still welcome recs for other brands you've liked (or should I say, your cats have liked).
Topic: Need premium cat food recommendation!
I've been feeding my cats Nutro Max dry food for many years (free feed). Last March one of my two boys passed on, and suddenly the dry food bowl stopped emptying out. It turns out he was the only one eating the Nutro - my other boy decided he didn't like it anymore.
The Nutro used to have a sort-of triangular shape to it, but they switched to a pellet shape and I think that's what he dislikes. (other pellet-shaped food hasn't gone over too well, either) I had a sample of the new Fancy Feast dry food, and he loved it so that's what I've been feeding him for now. The FF stuff comes in a variety of shapes that are almost identical to the marshmallows in Lucky Charms!
However, I want to switch him back to a premium brand, but only if I can find one that's not pellet-shaped. Anyone have suggestions?
Topic: Question about one of my baby's actions
Lately my cat (male - I've had him for almost 2 years) has been "talking" a LOT more than usual. He's also basically "refusing" to walk on the groud...if he's got a counter or table or something he can get around on he will.....he never used to be this way.....
He never liked to be held before - and suddenly he will not leave me alone. If I don't hold him he really gets antsy.
I have another baby (also male - had the same length of time) that hasn't changed at all......he's as sweet and loving as he's always been. Why would one change his actions and not the other?
Any thoughts or inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: RE: Sammy Cat Has Passed Away
I'm so sorry to hear about your Sammy passing these two months ago. Our Zoey has just been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease, so I know we will eventually be facing the same thing. Until then, we are doing what we can. Sammy was beautiful and was very lucky to have a mommy that loved him so much...!

Topic: RE: We have nine!!
Wow!! Nine kitties. I would be in cat mom heaven. We only have 4 and I always think there is room for one more, but I think my husband would leave me. My daughter says he would pack his stuff and go, but would certainly be back soon because he would miss his cats!! He complains alot, but I think he is really the biggest cat lover in the house. He is such a baby with them. We have Pewter, a gray female long hair, the oldest at 8, Dodger, our only boy, a shelter cat, age unknown, loves the outdoors and hunting, CeCe, a female tortie, shelter cat, probably about 3, and our baby, Bleubelle, also a shelter cat, about 3, a blue-point Himalayan. They are all fabulous in their own ways and we are absolutely in love with each of them. But, I have to say--Bleubelle is the most beautiful cat any of us have ever seen, a fact confirmed by everyone who comes to our home. All our girls are indoor only cats, but Dodger, who we inherited from my MIL who passed away, goes outside. We hate that because it worries us sick when he is out, but it was just impossible to reprogram him. He has a very strong hunting instinct and when he wasn't allowed out to indulge that habit, he began to hunt our girls and it was very frightening. The vet said he will definitely hurt them if we are not very vigilant. So, we started letting him out and now everyone is happy.
Topic: We have nine!!
Yep, my husband (LPN/Charge Nurse) and I are currently owned by nine kitties, ranging from Snowflake, resting here between my boobs and my keyboard at 18 and the youngest boys, brown tabby Manxs at about 2. In between we have Ruby at 17, a tortie-point Siamese/Manx cross, Twinkie, a 10 year old seal point Siamese, Candy Bear, an 8 year old blue point Siamese, Boo and Snicklefritz (black and gray medium haired respectively) litter brothers from a feral litter - 4 years old, Sapphire - gorgeous medium haired brown and white tabby - 3 years, Boo and Snickie's younger sister from the same feral mom and dad. We didn't plan on the youngest three but my best friend passed away last August 2, 2004 at 52, at 450+ pounds, with diabetes and a family history of massive heart attacks, and we were the only ones who would take all three of her babies. It won't be long before we have to give Snowflake back to the Great Goddess Lending Library of Cats. She is very thin, has arthritis but is not in any pain that we can tell. I wish all of your furkids long and healthy lives.

Topic: MY CAT
Hi I'm new on obesityhelp.com. I saw a message board about cats and wanted to introduce me and my baby.
My name is Robin Cosper. I live in Mobile, AL. I adopted a Russian Blue Cat 3 years ago and he is absolutely the sweetest thing. My son named him shadow. I call him Shadwick because he has this personality like he should be rich or something, lol. He just sleeps and eats. He's very fat. Not like your typical russian blue.......but he is a russian blue. He's smart as can be. He's starting to lose weight now that he has discovered outside. I moved into a house so he sits at the door when he wants to go out and use the bathroom. We do not have to use a litter box anymore, thank God. I will keep my back door open and he comes in when he is finished. He's like my third child. He has his own room and bed (well he shares a room with my two boys and sleeps on the bottom bunk, lol) He's very loving and gentle and loves to play rough with my husband but would never be rough towards me or my kids. I feel like I have a dog sometimes. Well, I just wanted to share with you about my baby boy. Thanks for reading.
Robin

Topic: RE: Baby's Allergic to my kitties
there is a product called allerpet-C and can be found at pet stores and veterinary clinics. It is applied to the dry coat of the cat and drastically cuts down on dander...use it every day. Also, I noticed that wal-mart carries those really nice air ionizers for only about $150.00 dollars consider a couple of those around the house. I have read that exposing children to allergens and pets can actually help them outgrow these allergies as they get older...could be wrong but I as a child was very very allergic to kitties and still have slight problems every now and then but happily live with five. Just some tried and true suggestions.
