They definately DO have them. I went to one here in St. Louis once and had a wonderful time seeing all the beautiful (and well loved) cats and kittens. I couldn't agree with you more! Let us cat lovers have something to watch on Saturday mornings with our kitties rather than having to subject our kitties to watching the doggies make fools of themselves. LOL

I have a 17 yo cat who has had kidney problems for 5 or 6 years now. She drinks a lot of water (and I always make sure to have plenty of fresh water for her) and will eat moist or dry food. But due to the fact that she needs as much moisture as possible, I feed her Science Diet canned food (she likes gourmet turkey best). It has lots of moisture in it. I also give her about 1" of Petromalt every week to help her with constipation. But sometimes -- for no reason that I can understand -- she doesn't feel like eating and gets very puny. At those times she will sleep in the closet or under the bed (animals in the wild do this to hide from prey as they're too weak to defend themselves). I know it's very stressful for you. When I feel her spine become bony, I take her into the vet and ask them to give her an IV. I take her in that morning and pick her up in the evening. She still won't eat on her own when she's home, so I have to force-feed her. Your vet can give you a special tube to do this (it's like a syringe). Just squirt it into the sides of her mouth, near the back and then close her mouth so she must swallow. Get as much into her as you can, taking your time so she doesn't get stressed out from being forcefed. It usually takes me a couple of days but she finally returns to normal every time. There's nothing you did wrong -- she might just be constipated or just have aches and pains from the kidney problem -- we can't really know. You just have to deal with the symptoms. [If you have multiple cats, it might be a good idea to close her off from them until she's feeling better -- my other cats tend to pick on her when she's feeling down.] Good luck! Cheri

Hi there, Most of what we call bicolors in Ragdolls are actually High-Mitteds **** ygous recessive is colorpoint; heterozygous looks mitted, and **** ygous dominant resembles a true bicolor. And I have the same problem whenever I go to shows. I keep seeing other cats and other breeds that I absolutely love! I just have to keep telling myself, "NO, NO, NO!" Julie S. There's always a struggle. The Chartreux in Europe nearly disappeared in the 1970s because of the strong influence of UK British Shorthair breeders (who wanted to assimilate the breed and swipe the name to use on their blues). If you Ragdoll folks persist, you'll triumph eventually! But I must admit a preference for bi-color and van Ragdolls, which goes along with my adoration of bi-colors and vans of any breed. Once I was benched across from a black & white MC neuter and I couldn't keep my eyes off him. (my Chartreux spay seemed equally smitten) And then there was that dilute calico longhair Manx... I have a quick genetics question for you. Is colorpoint dominant or recessive?

Hi there, We're in CFA country too which is unfortunate for a Ragdoll person because we're only allowed to show the bicolors and vans. All our mitteds and colorpoints have to stay home. The Birman people have a pretty strong influence in CFA, and so far they've been pretty effective at keeping the other color patterns out. Up until this year we only had one TICA show a year (where we can show all our patterns) within a 450-mile radius of our house (down in OK), but now a new TICA club has formed and they held a show right next to us in Wichita this year. Anyway, good luck on the hunt for the new cat! Julie S. Non-op 5'5" 244 to 158 since 4-04

I'm temporarily retired, but have shown Chartreux and bred one litter. I had two show alters, a Havana Brown and American Shorthair, but both were complete and utter failures as show cats - they were too timid! (found a new home for the Brownie, kept the ASH) Right now I just have one purebred, a Chartreux neuter from my sole litter. I'm planning to get a female Chartreux later this year or early next, but am still undecided whether to get a young female for show/breeding or an older show spay. Premiership is more fun than Championship! I may get back into clerking, too. I cross-register in CFA and TICA, but this is definitely CFA territory (DC suburbs).

Hi guys, Is there anyone else on OH who shows and breeds purebred cats? We have Ragdolls (seals and blues only) and show primarily CFA although we do get to the rare TICA show. Julie Stade
