Topic: RE: Aligar has past away
I lost my 20 year old precious boy in 2003 - he had FIV. He was so sick at the end but he still gave my hand a headbutt and I still miss him so much but I know that you and I did the right thing by our beloved boys.

I was concerned about the issue as well, but didn't have a problem except when I was sleeping. I blocked the cats from jumping on the tummy. Had no problem with Harley laying on my side post-op. It only lasted a couple of weeks. Though he has a knack of placing a paw right on my port and bearing all his weight there. ouch!

Thanks for all the responses! Things are definitely better now. She's still not friendly with the boys, but she only hisses at them now and then. I don't think she was played with much in her youth, as she was baffled by the concept of cat toys. Now she's pouncing and chasing toys like crazy.
She no longer keeps me awake at night. However, my oldest boy has decided that 4am is the perfect time to knock his forehead repeatedly against mine. Cats.

It sounds like you may have used a treatment that contained pyrethin. Cats are really allergic to it and it can kill them. many don't know that, and use the dog only cheap flea treatments on their cats. I'm glad your had minimal exposure and are doing great. I always use either Advantage, Revolution, or Frontline on my pets. They all work great to keep fleas away. I'm sorry to hear about the kittens. Flea anemia is all too common. I'm glad you won your battle though.

Frontline is also a good one. I just couldn't remember its name in my earlier post. I have used all three, and it doesnt make any of my cats sick. The worst thing I ever had happen was one of my cats licked it off of another and started foaming at the mouth. I just washed it out and he was fine.

I was worried about the same thing, unfortunatly my cat didn't make it until I had surgery. He would sleep only on my stomach, and no where else. I could roll over and he would just follow me and move until I rolled over again. I was going to fashion something out of wood, like a tray to go over my stomach area. It was going to have enough space for me to turn if needed, but would also keep him off.
Good luck.

It does take a little time to establish order, but I know how you feel.
I have always had male cats until recently. I resccued a little female several years ago. She and her brother were left at 2 days old when their mom wa**** by a car. I have never seen a cat more territorial. The guys have always welcomed other cats into the house when I did rescues. She started to attack other cats about 2 years ago.
The latest was my ex-roommates cat. She never let up on him the entire time he was here. My vet told me that females are naturally more territorial.
Good luck & i wish you many sleepful nights soon

Advantage or Revolution will help keep fleas away. I dont recommend the cheap stuff, sometimes it has ingredients that cats are allergic to.
The tapeworms your cat had are common, but preventable. Pets get them by accidently swallowing fleas infested with tapeowrm eggs. What you actually saw was a segment of the worm. That is the part that contains eggs the flea larvae eat, therefore becoming infested.
By killing the fleas before you pet has a chance to eat them, you lessen the chance of your cat getting them again. Both Advantage and Revolution can be purchased at petstores now, and both work great. My cats are indoor only, and I only had to use it once every couple months to keep fleas away. Now I have to use it every month because I have dogs now that go to the dog park and bring little unwanted friends home.
They also make otc tapeworm meds, but they are mostly found at feed stores.
Good luck with it.

Topic: RE: Aligar has past away
The out pouring from my post has been wonderful. I can not express how much it has helped me to receive respones from every one. Amy, just reading your response made me cry but it wasn't tears of grief or pain. They were tears of well, I don't know what you would call it, but reading what you went through with Precious and the Rainbow Bridge poem too. The vet hospital that I used to work out always sent that poem out along with a sympathy card to clients who had lost a pet. The poem always makes me cry because I know it's true and because I can't wait to see Aligar again and I love him so much. He was diabeteic and I swear his appetite was on a strict every 12 hour feeding. Every morning at 5:30 AM he would stand next to our bed or jump on it and start yelling at us to feed him and I still have woke up a few times thinking that I heard him yelling at me to feed him. Our lives had become very hectic and I think Aligar knew it was hard to be there all the time but that we were doing everything we could to make sure that he was happy healthy and of course, very loved. I am so sorry that you could not be there with Precious but I know that she was well aware of how much you loved her. I was with Aligar when he passed away and I feel so bad becasue the last thing he saw was me crying so hard before he left this life. I just wanted him to know how much I loved him and I still do. I talk about him often. I call all my cats angel kitties and now Aligar really is my angel kitty. I wish I could see Aligar just once more to make sure that he knows how much I love him and that he will always be in my heart. Thank you so much for writing to me. It brought tears to my eyes, but not for a bad reason. I can see Aligar in heaven laying in the sun cat napping or running in the grass and having the wind blow through his whiskers, he liked that.
