Topic: Become a fur-baby foster parent!!!
Hey all! Just wanted to point out to all of you cat lovers that many local animal shelters have foster-home programs. These programs help save kitten lives. Most shelters will only house kittens that are on a full dry food diet, and kitty heaven is the destination for those who aren't old enough..sniff..sniff. I am currently foster mommy to 4 brown/tan tabby kittens...they are sooo sweet. Their mommy was picked up behind a Jack in the Box 4 days ago, we had no idea she had a litter. A concerned woman came over to the shelter and let us know that kittens were darting in and out of some bushed behind the drive-thru. What lucky kittens they are! Even luckier to have been in a shelter that supported a foster program! They will live with me for 2-3 weeks then will be eligible for adoption. Then you guessed it! Forever homes. Help give orphaned kitties a fairytale ending...become a foster parent

Poor kitty but at least he is better. Make sure your vet takes the insurance. I bought it once and found my vet (who both the kitties and I loved) didn't take it.

Thanks sooo much! I actually went to the VET on Tuesday and my kitty has feline acne and they shaved it off! I do use stanless steel bowls and ceramic but had plastic water dishes! Also, the bad breath was gingivitis something and about 130$+ dollars later I got antibiotics (these antibiotics are for humans and the pharmacy had to compound them from sctratch crush up pills put into liquid -57$!!) for the kitty and will recheck in 2 weeks! OH MY! I do need pet insurance! OH WELL! I love um!!! Then last night I gave him his dosage and he is such a little bugger and squirms a ton --- well the medicine i think went into his nose and eye and he immediately began to have like sezures and shake and was like making coughing sounds and was like going to throw up. He did this for like 20-30 minutes and kept wiping his nose and eye. I don't know if he was having a panic attack??? Or alergic reaction?? Or what! I called the vet this AM to be sure (because now he is acting fine) and she said to give his AM dosage and watch him. It could be an alergic reaction. So we will see! But it seems his breath is better! WAHOOOO!!!!

Topic: RE: kitty debate!
Ok, I want to give your hubby the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe he doesnt want a truley FAT cat, but maybe a big one. Some breeds of cat are naturaly big (not fat) and are very healthy. Main Coons are a good example of this. Just a thought.

Ok a few things: A. Do you use plastic, glass or ceramic bowls? Glass and ceramic are far better as they dont allow bactera to breed. Your kitty could have a bacterial infection on the *****feline acne) cleaning this with peroxide 2 times a day should help relieve it. B. At his age he should be finishing up with loosing his milk teeth. Sometimes they dont all fall out causing an infection and bad odor. You really ought to have a vet look at his teeth. 7 months is awful young to use ultrasonic cleaning. They really shouldnt need until they are a few years old. A good idea is start using a finger cot tooth brush and tooth paste made for pets. They hate it at first but will learn to live with it. Hope this helps a little bit. At least its a start.

I had a cat that had that black stuff , took her to vet and he gave me a cream thta cleared it up quick. The odor doesn't sound good so get to vet ASAP. I love my 4 footed kids as much as my 2 footed one.

I think the black stuff under the chin is called 'cat acne'. Sometimes just brushing it gently will alleviate it and sometimes it may bleed. I don't think it is serious and I can usually get rid of it with gentle washing with Dawn. The mouth odor could be from a gastric problem, or infection. Maybe a food change or try brushing his mouth yourself. Gotta love our furchildren. Tina
