Topic: hello cat lovers
I have two cats, lucas or lukie pooh and Lilo and only other cat lovers understand how they are my babies!!!!! I just wanted to say hello to all the other cat lovers out there. I was wondering if anyone had abyssinians. I don't know if I spelled that correctly. I held a male once and he was sooo beautiful. I was wondering how much breeders sold them for vs. the over inflated pet store I saw them at. I will be interested when I finally move into a bigger home in the next year or so.

I could not resist replying to this post. It depends on the temperment of your cats. I used to have a russian grey, he was the most loving thing in the world. If we left home for a day or two, he would rub your skin off when you came home. We had a second story window with a hole in the screen. He would climb the tree and come into the house through the window. Once while we were gone, he had a party & invited all of his stray cat friends over to the house. When we returned, there were 3 cats in my house that I had never seen before. Seems we came home before they expected us & kinda crashed the party. LOL! Live and learn. Now we have 2 Himalayans that are prima dona's. Now if we leave the house for any length of time, they tear the place up. We honestly have to have family to go over twice a day and pet the cats. Have you heard of anything like that in your life??

Pam, I'm betting they will sense something's 'wrong' with you when you come home & be extra-cuddly. That is how my cats were when I came home from the hospital.

Iam going to have my surgery in June and am worried a bout my cats.I have never left them for more than a day and will be gone for almost a week.I would like to know how your cats reacted when you came home.I am single and the casts are like children to me.When I leav them for a day they will not have anything to do with me for a couple of days. Topic: RE: Does anyone have Tonkinese cats?
Tonkinese cats are a hybrid between Siamese & Burmese cats. They look similar to Siamese, only smaller, and have aqua eyes instead of blue. They come in a variety of coat patters & colors. Personality-wise, they are talkers! They are very social & very vocal, and cannot stand to be alone. They are extremely dog-like. They are also very acrobatic, performing jumps & somersaults while playing. Their coats are short hair, smooth as silk, and they love to cuddle & play. You can carry on a conversation with them if they are in the mood. Here's a website with the official breed description: http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/tonkinese.html

Topic: RE: de-claw, or not de-claw
My opinion: If you're willing to work with the cat(s) to train them on what's good behavior and what is not acceptable, and starting with them very young to get them to tolerate your nail clipping, de-clawing is not necessary. I don't like the thought of them being put through that pain.

Topic: RE: Are Orange cats USUALLY males?
I have an Orange Tabby named Butterscotch, and he's a male. I have heard from many different sources (vets, animal shelters, etc.) that most (not all) orange cats are male. I've also heard they can be among the most affectionate, and I certainly believe that after Butterscotch came into my life. I extend my sympathy to you on your loss of Lucas. Cats all certainly have their own personality and become such a big part of our lives. Utah will be a great new addition to your family.
