Topic: RE: de-claw, or not de-claw
Desirae, I agree with your post, but if you wanted to be a bit more accurate with your analogy, you would have asked how we would like it if someone removed our fingernails by removing the last third of our fingers!!! That's what declawing REALLY is. Cats have claws and cats can be trained. If you don't want a cat that has claws, then you don't really want a cat. Dogs can bite but no one suggests removing their teeth! Some cats seem to do very well after being declawed and some humans seem to rise above their physical challenges when they become paraplegics. It's a matter of the individual creature's psyche, but I wouldn't inflict it on an animal. One last thing, most other countries have outlawed this barbaric practice! Getting off my soapbox now, ~Jan

Topic: RE: I love my kitties!
I know this post is old, but I have to reply to it anyway. I love to see someone who loves cats as much as I do, and appreciates them as much as I do! And I do agree, they are a God send. I have 9 cats. My 2 youngest are now 7 mos. old. Mischievious!!!! (In fact I have an older cat named Mischief!!) Anyway, they are the loves of my life and I wouldn't know what to do without them. Topic: RE: My babies
Hi! I have 9 babies, and I know what you mean. They all take their turns laying on me no matter what position I am in. The hip is the most popular though. I have lost 75 lbs., and have noticed that it does get a little uncomfortable for me at times, especially when they are standing on me and put all of their weight in one spot! Ouch! But kitty will adjust to it. I am sure that he is just happy to be so close to his mommy. And trust me, if he gets uncomfortable, he will move!!! And I do agree that it is comforting and relaxing when they come to me for their "mommy time"!!

Topic: RE: Are Orange cats USUALLY males?
I have 4 cats as well My Calico Nikki (female) Passed away last October so I feel your pain on that one sometimes I even think I see her walking by then realize it's one of the others. Anyway right before Nikki got sick we adopted a little orange tabby and even though we knew that they are usually makes we couldn't tell, We had to bottle feed this one it was so tiny. Anyway we finally decided to name it Maggie and guess what one day everything just kind of dropped and Maggie was no more female than my Thirteen year old son LOL. Anyway he was about 3 months old before we could tell late bloomer I guess. We couldn't get used to calling him Mikey and he just looked at us like who is Mikey, so Maggie stuck. Oh well just thought I would share my Orange tabby story.

It's so funny that you mention Tyler's pastime. My cat Tuesday does the same thing when I lie on my side...he likes to sleep on my hip. I've been noticing that he seems to find the hip bone (and I've found it as well, after losing 99lbs so far) and plop there. After a bit of rearranging on my part, I've found I can handle his weight just fine...he's about 14lbs right now. As far as breaking Tylers habit is concerned, I don't think that's going to happen any time soon! Cats get into such a routine when it comes to their mommies. And, yes, it really is comforting. I almost hate to get up when Tuesday is sleeping on my hip. Take care....Freda

on the claws. My three are declawed because they kept pulling the screens out of my windows. but I just love them. We now have a beagle puppy and she loves the cats but only one of the cats likes her. when the cat swats at the puppy I crack up.
