Topic: My babies
Hi, have a question regarding my cat's (tyler's) favorite past time. Lying on his mommy (me). When Iam lying down he likes to lie on my chest with his head between my breast, or right on my stomach/ abdominal region. I have lost 92 lbs. so far and have about 80 more to go and am wondering what will happen once I loose all the padding he lies on, will this cause any discomfort on my part when he does lie on top of me. After 10 years of this I don't think I will be able to break him of this habbit. and besides I do find it quite comforting and relaxing. Just wondering.

BOTH of my cats drink from the faucet. Kenny loves to sleep in the sink. I rescued both of them from the Humane Society 4 years apart. They also love to show their ability to open cabinets but unfortunately they try and do it while I am sleeping and it wakes me up!

yep!!! I have a russian blue mix that is teeny tiny skinny thing. Her name is Misha and she looks like she has mittens. She has them on her back feet too. I love how she picks things up off the floor with them and eyes them closely and puts it back. (could be lint!) I hate trimming them every 3 weeks though. Those dew claws (2 on each foot) are sharp as a tack!

Topic: RE: Pee next to litterbox
My sister has a kitty who pees standing up. She just started this not too long ago, and the pee "arcs" right out of the litter box. She is really old though, and the vet said its because she is uncomfortable when she pees now. I would call your vet and ask them just to be sure. It could just be like you said, the dog barking or believe it or not kitty may sense your anxiousness, also like you said. Good luck! Desirae

I have 9 cats, and would never even think of having them declawed. I think its cruel, when all it takes is a little teaching and disciplining not to scratch things! Kudos to the person with the squirt bottle! Thats what I do. I have a couple on hand. A cats claws are their defense. I understand that most people keep them indoors after, but I still think its inhumane. Its painful. How would we like it if someone removed our fingernails? OUCHY!!! Desirae

Topic: RE: To all of the kitty lovers...I have 9!!!
I am glad to find someone else who loves their kitties like I do too. Mine are so spoiled! They own this house, not me. I just "exist" here! I was worried too, if something happened to me during surgery. But I have 3 sisters, who would have split them between them. One of my sisters already has 6 of her own though! But she would have taken a couple of mine too. I watch TV with mine too, and we snuggle all of the time, although now there is less of me to snuggle with! I used to be able to have 3 of them on me at a time, but now only one. Thanks for your responses! I didn't think anyone was going to reply to me and my babies!!! Hope all is well!

Personally, I'll never have a cat declawed again. On my most recent cat I used a combination of Soft Paws and Sticky Paws to train her not to scratch furniture. She does have a scratching post from Cat Fiesta that she can scratch at will. She has never ruined anything or scratched a human.

Topic: RE: Are Orange cats USUALLY males?
First of all, I hope you enjoy your new kitten!! My experience is that calicos are almost always female - and orange cats are almost always male. Of course, there are always exceptions. We had an orange female - but she was hard to find!I just got a new calico kitten a week ago. The mother had abandoned the litter at 2 weeks old and my friend bottlefed them. I took Miss Chickapea at 5 weeks because her 5 brothers and sisters were picking on her and she wasn't getting much food. She's growing like crazy and is precious!! I, also, have a tortie Maine coon Tigger and a black cat Peepers. Good luck!!

Hi there. I had a cat that would do the same thing. Tazi would go right beside his litter box when he was mad, the box wasn't clean enough for him or when I went out of town and left him with my grandparents (even though he loved my Grandfather to death!) I guess he missed me. Cats are definitely tempermental but oh so worth it. The cat I have now (Tazi passed away several years ago) has never gone anywhere but her littler box. I even got her one of the self cleaning litter Maid litter boxes and it is great. At Bed Bath and Beyond there is a product called Incredible that works miracles on carpets and removes pet odors as well. It is $5 give or take a $1 per bottle. Good luck to you.

I know how you feel. I have 4 cats and sometimes one of them will decide that they don't think the litter box is clean enough for them. I scoop it on a daily basis but sometimes that just doesn't satisfy them. Also, I have an old cat who if you **** him off by moving him on the house or not feeding him when he wants it will go and pee on something of yours. Needless to say, we do what he wants. Then there is the medical reasons for it. Of course, crystals in the urine or a UTI. But another thing is diabetes. Yeap, alot of people don't think of that. My 13 yr old is diabetic too. Sometimes he just doesn't make it to the box and goes right outside of the box. It would be a good idea to have her urine and bloodwork checked to rule out those medical conditions. I would hate for your kitty to be put out doors for something that truley wouldn't be her fault. Another suggestion, have you changed the brand of litter lately? Some cats don't like you to change the brand. Find one that she likes and stick to it. Also, to clean up cat urine, there is a product called Nature's Miralce, it can be found in PetSmart and it works wonders! We carry it in the clinic that I worked in. Also, there is a produce called FeliOWay which can be found at PetSmart or a vet's office. It comes a a pump bottle or as a plug in like and it is supposed to release pheromones that relax your cat and stop it from urinating outside the box. I use both of this produts and I have seen wonderful results. Good luck to you and i hope kitty stops peeing outside the box.
