Topic: RE: To all of the kitty lovers...I have 9!!!
I am so glad that I am not the only person who loves their cats as much as I do. I have 4 cats ranging in age from 13 yrs old to 5 yrs old. There's Aligar, Monty, Tiger and Buffy. They have been with me thur everything and still loved me for me. I too was worried about how my cats would be taken care of if something had happened to me during surgery. I have one kitty that must have insulin twice a day. My husband was wonderful and promised to love them just the way I would. I even dress my kitties for Halloween! I love it. I sleep with them and watch tv with them. We cuddle and I just love them to death!

HEy Lynn Congrats on your wls surgery. I had the same problem with my cats sleepingon my belly too. For the first week my husband kept tem locked out of the bedroom where I was. They hated it. They would bump against the door and cry all night. Then I put pillows around me and they slept on those. I am now almost 5 onths out and they sleep on me still. I even sleep on my side and they will some how arrange themselves to sleep on my side too! Try having an 18 pounder sleeping on your side and you want to roll over. But I love them all.

I am a Vet Tech and have 4 cats myself that are declawed. My cats are strictly indoors and that;s the way they like it. Cats are much healthier if they live strictly indoors. They don't get into fights with stray animals, or runthe risk of being hit by a car. Anyways, I have assissted with many declaw surgeries and prior to the surgery cats are given pain medication and after the surgery they are sent home with pain medication. Although I will say it is much better to have a cat declawed at a young at instead of waiting until later inlive. They tend to heal faster and adapt to life without claws faster. But in the end, it is completely up to the owner as to declaw or not.

Yeah my cats do this too at times. Sometimes I think it is because they track litter out of the box, then go on the tracked litter. Sometimes I know I don't keep the box clean enough. However sometimes they might not like the brand of litter. So perhaps try changing that. Then sometimes I think they get "ticked" at us and want us to suffer for whatever it is they "THINK" we did to them.

Topic: RE: Anyone have kitty photos
Yeah I have alot of them. Several unusual ones too. I have a grey calico who goes into the "poopy box" (covered litterbox) and turns around then steps all four feet on the doorway so she does'nt have to get her paws "soiled". lol Geese, she has to go in the box in order to turn around. Go figure. Then her sister, a black calico, drinks only by putting her paw in the water dish or toliet, then licking her paw. I've got both of these on photos. Then I have a photo of Lucas (who I lost last year) sitting in a chair, with his front feet up on the arm.... like a human would sit. I've never seen a cat do this. Weird. Plus I've got some cute pictures of my next cat (now a kitten of four weeks). I'm into animal photos and would love to see other peoples too. Yvonne has some absolutely terrific photos. Be sure to vist her web site!

Topic: Are Orange cats USUALLY males?
I have four cats. I lost my much beloved Lucas last October 9th and I'm still broken up over it. I've lost alot of animals over my life time but this one has really cut deeper than I dreamed possible. Anyway, my next cat is four weeks old today. I can't wait until he/she comes to live with me in around two more weeks. I've heard that Calicos are almost always females. (I have two and they are females). I had an Orange cat 10 years ago and it was a HE. Anyway, I have all my animals, male or female fixed. NO EXCEPTIONS. However almost all my animals are females, which I prefer. However I have one tom cat yet, and seeing my house is overrun with females (lol, not trying to offend anyone) I'd love to have another tom. I've decided to call my kitten "Utah" which in the language of the Ut indians means "people of the mountains". But at four weeks old "things" are not very "developed DOWN there" and I can't tell if IT is a little guy or girl. So are Orange cats USUALLY males? Thanks.

My cats did'nt know what to do as my belly melted away so quick and so did their "perch". lol I'm almost three years out and I still can not stand the pain of a cat on my stomach. It breaks their hearts, and hurts my gut.

Why would you have to get rid of your cat! NO WAY! My brother and his wife got a cat part simease cat in 1970. Then in 1972 they had their first and only child... my nephew Troy. Now that cat was the meanest most ornery cat on the face of this earth. But for some reason she took to Troy. She was his protector and friend. LOL, Troy was the only one who could do anything with that cat and the only one she would NEVER hurt. When he was in college she was always on his books (I love you, pay attention to me, you don't need to read). Snowball lived to 20 and always loved that baby that came into her family. Just make sure you lavish lots of love on the cat so their is no need for it to be jelous of a child. Chances are that cat and child will be the very best of friends. Animals understand that children are little and helpless and will usually be gentle with them.

I've had six cats declawed since 1989. They are ALL inside cats without exception. (It is to dangerous for them to be outside when declawed!). Anyway, I never thought it was cruel. However two of those cats always seem to have very tender paws. So I don't know. At this point someone is holding a kitten for me (four weeks old today). I'm debating on wether to declaw him/her. The main reason is I have a dog that I can't trust with my cats. It would do Hunter some good to be scratched by a cat... might teach her some respect. Anyway, I have no idea what I will do. Kind of think I will eventually declaw again when he/she gets "fixed" at around six months of age.

Topic: RE: My new adoptee....
I have lots of cats and a dog. SO FAR I've had good luck with new animals in the family. The main thing is not to leave them alone together until you are sure they will be ok. Introduce them slowly and carefully but be prepared to separate them should the older animal react bad!Personally I feel the VERY MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do is to love and pay more attention to the older animal. (That is the one that has been with you the longest). Try to image how you might feel... "You are a cat that has been with your owner along time. Then the dingbat owner brings in a younger and cuter cat. You fear you will lose your home to this new intruder". OUCH! Make sure your older animal knows he/she has nothing to fear by this youngster. Lavish lots of extra attention on old one. So far it has worked great for me.
