Topic: RE: Hypoglycemia & Pituitary tumor
Hello all, I am almost 8 years post-op RNY, and have managed to keep 140 lbs off.  About 4 years ago, I started complaining to my Dr about night sweats.  He said I was starting menopause.  I then mentioned that I was confused and dizzy along with the sweats, is that menopause?.  Although I mention this to him every time I go, only recently did he mention that I might have hypoglycemia and that was because 2 months ago, I had such a severe event that I almost passed out and then slept for 2 hours in the middle of the day (that is something I never do). He stated that I need to go back to eating like I did when I first had surgery.  That high protein and low carbs will help.  Also, that I really need to watch when I eat simple sugars as this will trigger an event.  I have also noticed that if I go a long time without eating (more than 5 hours when awake) that seems to predispose me to an attack.  I am much more careful now as that last attack was very scary.  I would recommend keeping some of those diabetic sugar wafers around for when you have a  bad attack, otherwise a glass of juice or a piece of fruit contains enough sugar to balance back out.  Good luck.

Topic: RE: 4 Years Out 11-2 Feeling Crappy...LONG POST!!!
Well, I am 8 1/2 years post op and have not had any problems until about a year ago.  I have lots of gas, lots of bloating, loud gurgling sounds, burping, I can literally feel my intestines moving around when they make this noise.  Lately when I burp, it is a minty taste as if I have eaten a chocolate mint.  I have not been to my surgeon in 5 years.  I am scared to go to the doctor because my surgery was paid for by Vocational Rehab and if I report problems that are related to the surgery, my insurance will not pay.  I did start taking a probiotic based on my research here on the internet and that seems to help but all of the issures are still there.  I keep thinking it can't be anything major because I feel good and am doing well otherwise.

...sigh...   I suppose I should quit hiding and call the doctor today. I have intermittent pain. I just knew right away it was my stomach/pouch and now it's becoming more and more frequent.
I don't think I should prolong it anymore. Obviously....after reading others posts! YIKES!

So....stay tuned!

Topic: RE: soreness on the left side...
I have experienced left side pain over the new stomach area and it migrates towards the right.  I feel full and bloated and then the hurt begins.  Had my gallbladder removed last week and the pain is back.  Possible internal hernia or bowel obstruction was what the Dr. told me this morning.

My doc told me that the gall bladder was on right side.  My pain was from the stomach nerve that became inflamed after surgery.

They never dissolve.

You were transected?

So, they're not calling it a staple line disruption, right?

Where did they find them? How many? Like a gob or 2?

Topic: RE: Lap Band - Must stand up to eat
I had lapband surgery in 2003 and had nothing but complications from the beginning, as well. I had the band removed in 2005 and can tell you that while I still do have occasional residual problems to this day, the bulk of it is gone, thankfully. I do still have an occasional bout with reflux, but it's much less of a problem without the band in place.  I'm sorry I can't speak to the eating standing up. I was unable to eat solid foods at all when I had the band. I have so much damage to my diaphragm from incorrect placement of the band that a revision isn't a possibility for me.

Wishing you the best with the revision and with your health.

Topic: Migrated staples?
I had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder and appendix last week, and while doing the exploratory bit of the surgery, they found that staples from my RNY had migrated inside and were catching food.  I've NEVER heard of this happening.  I'm about 6 days post op from that surgery and I feel like absolute poop.  I feel like I did after my RNY in 2005.  I'm an emotional mess.  I have my tummy tuck scheduled for February 8 and that's the last thing I want to go through right now because I feel so crappy.

Is anyone familiar with migrated staples?  I can't find out much about it online.

I too have been having terrible pain on my left side, for the last year.  I have just found out the cause and the fix for it.  This site gives a good explanation of my problem www.endonurse.com/hotnews/4ah1413038.html

Not sure if this is the cause of yours, but it's something that I'd never heard of before yesterday when a surgeon told me about it.

Hope you find the cause of yours.
