I'm 15 days from RNY surgery.  I'm nervous because EVERYONE assumes I'm type 2 Diabetic.  As a Type 1, I'm nervous about nursing staff assuming.  Any advice??

I have been a type 1 since I was 3 years old.  The hospital assumed I was type 2 and didnt want to give me my insulin.  I had to basicly yell to het some insulin.  Stick up foryourself or bring your own insulin.

I am T1 too. I am doing my 9 months prior to surgery now. I am trying to connect with people that are T1 so that I know what to expect. I am on a pump. I'm wondering what my adjustments will need to be etc.

Bring your own insulin and hide it.  The hospitals don't allow you to medicate your self while you're there.  Make sure it's all over your file that you are type 1, even though it probably won't matter.  Discuss pump adjustments with your endocrinologist way before!

Thank you.

Are you a T1D? How did your blood sugars do after surgery?

How did it go with the insulin after your surgery?  Hope all is well.
