All I want to say is.........................sometimes the truth hurts Karen. PK suggested a much safer choice then revison. You might want to try it first before you submit yourself to a very dangerous surgery.  From a lurker (confessed troll) who swears never to lurk again........I guess I lied. Marlene

Wow, and this coming from a DSer who happened to have had Dr. K do the great work. My local bariatric surgeon said I had a fast follow through with an elongated pouch. Dr. K said my pouch was in trouble and he highly recommened a revision to a DS. And would I go against what Dr. K says? When did you have your surgery and how are you doing?

Don't worry about Marlene, Karen.  She has a serious case of headupPK'sbutt-itis.

I am relatively new to this website and my surgery.  Initially, I found this to be a very informative and supportive tool for anyone seeking to make a life changing decision, one that brings with it the possibility of complications, failure, and even death.  Over the past few months, I have received a great deal of information and some pretty good tips.  Having had DS only a month ago, I can use all the help I can get.  My wife had RNY last year and used this site for her research, as well.  Sadly, this will probably be my last post on this site.  I am disappointed to see that there are three pages of name calling, negative responses, and sophmoric behavior on this post, when I often see really good questions answered by only four or five people.  Before throwing insults and names at one another based on the surgery chosen, who eats what, or what someone's hair looks like, consider this.  There is an entire world of people who look at everyone who has had this surgery or considers having the surgery as a bunch of weak minded freaks.  Fat people who were unable to exercise, put the fork down, and show some self control.  In actuality, these people are misinformed about WLS and obesity.  I'm sure many people who could benefit from WLS are turned off by the thought of being considered a crazy freak by the real world.  This website should be a haven of truth and information where people who are struggle with weight issues can find facts and true support.  If this topic were the first post I had read on this website, I would most likely think that the real world was right, these people are crazy.  I would humbly submit that this type of nonsensical arguing be done by phone call, email, or private message.  I send this as someone who has benefitted from this site, but is now very much turned off to the thoughts of wasting my time surfing the web.  I think I'll log off, kiss my beautiful wife, grab my dog and take a nice long walk. Regards, Lawrence F. Jones, Jr.

It's unfortunate that you can't see the forest for the trees. So you are giving up the entire web?  Wow.

I'm so sorry Karen that you got such a bunch of flak.  I spent most of my life being told I was a failure, put the fork down, and quit being so weak.  I've lost over 100 lbs. many times in my life, only to gain it back.  Since the DS, I've been thriving.  I don't think the DS is a free ride; I've gained from a scrawny 122 to a muffin topped 146 (5' 7" and something).  I really need to get back to basics and drop a few.  Yeah, we all need to take a look at the mental aspects of this whole thing, but it sure as heck is a lot easier to do now that I can't shove a box of krispy kremes down my gullet without any reprecusions.  You do what is right for YOU and let the naysayers kiss your butt!  HUGS!

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!
