I have officially converted from the RNY surgery to the DS surgery
Tell your friend that if she could have learnt it she'd have done it by now. DS isnt about eating what you like with abandon, its about having your body metabolically changed to be able to eat like a slim person.
I'm healthier now than I've ever been. Suggest she checks out the revisions board if she'd rather have bogus 'healthy' (meat tenderiser and reactive hypoglycemia spring to mind) as opposed to something that works.

Hi Michelle,
Congrats on the change - exciting isn't it. I'm one of those RNYer's that needs a revison...sigh. Tell me, how did you change your surgery type? Trying to make a few profile changes myself and can't seem to do it.
Thanks,
Debbie

Whew! What a close call! :) I absolutely love my DS and am thrilled with my results. I can eat "normally" without feeling guilty. I've heard many good things about Dr. Husted. You've found a fine surgeon!
Good luck on getting it done quickly since you have all/most of your pre-op work done.
(((Hugs)))
Jo
Congratulations and all the Best.

To teach something is to have it. To have something you must be it. Teach peace, for that is what you are.

Excellent News Michelle! I see your in Indianapolis! Why don't you come up to one of our Monthly DS meetings. Next Monday we are meeting at Sahms Resteraunt on 116th and Allisonville in Fishers! That would be so amazing if you could come up and meet with some fellow DSers! We are a very welcoming group, we always love to have new people to Join! Please make it if you can!
I'm sure you'll meet Beth and I at some point since you'll be having the surgery in Dayton.

Great news Michelle! I have been working towards an RNY for years thinking it was my only option. I never felt comfortable with the idea of that surgery even after it was approved for me by Kaiser. I recently learned, (thanks to Dianna and Larra for "pushing info"lol,) that I DO have a choice. I've made that choice for DS. Now I just have to do battle with Kaiser, but at least I am convinced this is right for me. Best of luck to you. I now know what it feels like to look forward to surgery, not dread it.
Oh my Gail... I feel the same way. I feel like a pressure has been taken off me. I guess since the word DS was brought into my vocabulary I have had many doubts about the RNY. When someone said how many DS revisions do you see on the boards? Well...I have never seen any on not one of these boards nor have I heard anyone complaining that they have gained all their weight back with the DS. As for the RNY that is a different story.
I know my body and I know what I need to keep the weight off. The RNY will not work for me long term but I feel the DS is just perfect for me.
