MADS (slightly embarassing)
Sorry, JB...
I also left the Hopkins-provided contraption behind at the hospital. I did not have much trouble with the movement, and knew I had my new Biffy (little bidet installed in toilet) to handle the work for me at home, anyway.
You might try a big wooden spoon. Some TP, and something like rubber bands or duct tape, and you're back in business.
Sounds like you're doing well, though, which makes us all happy.

Well, suffice it to say if I were male, I would not be having the issues I am having! But a wooden spoon...I can try that. Thanks!
Hi Jill,
I had surgery 3 days prior to you, open & also struggled with wiping, but by day 5, it was a lot easier. I cannot reach from behind, serious pulling of the abdomen reminds me that's a bad idea. I have found though, that I can crouch over the toilet with one thigh slightly resting on the toilet seat, take my opposite hand that's not wiping, pull my too big abdomen to one side (gently) so that I can squeeze my forearm in the space, & fairly comfortably reach the entire rear area.
This is the only place I can ever imagine typing such a thing out.

I feel for you, but I pitched mine after two weeks. I told my DW, we could run it through the dishwasher... her response.... EWWW!
In the mean time, get a wooden spoon or even a stick. Back in the roman days, they used sponges on sticks and reused the sponges. One of these days the environmentalists are going to think that it was a fantastic idea.
I loved the fact that Teel's office supplied me a pair of tongs. Came in real handy.

My parents went out and got me some $1.47 tongs from Walmart that work just fine - hurray!
